Hmmmm so then Wendy how many shots do you take of things that are not "Live" as it were lol

I pm'd the SC as soon as I notied the typo this morning.

Thanks -- when I saw the "Live" this morning, first thing I did was check for a forum thread on the topic. :-)

I suspect quite a lot:

And I swear these birds were actually stuffed and the motion blur applied in PS ;)

ETA:
Although I suspect that humour would have worked better had you said "Alive" doh!

Wendy was suggesting that the photo must be of a live event ie not recorded.
So I reckon I'm still correct here as both images shown were taken of live and not recorded events yeah :)

I have a plan. : )

Fair enough! "Still Live?", it is. I think that's great and I am off to shoot for this challenge now. From everyone's interpretation here, the subject must be live. So, I intend to photograph an arrangement of still live subjects. It's too late now to change the challenge title.

If you place the cat in your light box but don't look at it, it is both dead and alive. Once you look inside you can determine it's measured condition.

I'm astonished this is still rumbling on.

It is clearly Still Life V as there aint ever been one previous Still Live (which makes no sense gramatically or otherwise) but unless someone from the SC actually clarifies what the challenge is then we are going to have a right old free for all when the voting comes around with one lot of people voting down the rabbits and birds (still obviously) and the rest voting down the tulips and fruit arrangements. The scores are then meaningless as are the results so I hope it gets clarified soon. Especially as I've shot my Still Life already.

the challenge is Still Life V. typos happen in challenge titles all of the time. we are unable to fix it, but langdon has been alerted and will make the change ASAP.

one of DPC's most amusing aspects. The complete and utter lack of common sense mixed with the complete and utter love for mischief mixed with the complete and utter desire for people to argue about everything :D

So, if I put a dead cat in a box and don't look at it, it's alive? But if I look at it, it's dead? Does it have to be a lightbox or do all boxes do this?

If I put a live cat in a box and don't look at it, it dies, until I look at it again.

Nobody is looking at me right now. Have I died? Who's typing this then?

I'm going to assume the title is correct and enter a zombie or something. Night of the living shoehorns, perhaps.

Ah, but, possibly sentient cats aside, can you spell Schrödinger ?

He'll feel out of place around here if he can spell anything. a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g, ok?

I typed this and printed it on paper made from a tree that fell in the forest when no one was there - call me up and I'll scream it to you. I'm dead. If a cat with the uncanny ability to spell is put in a box and you drop a tree on it in a deserted forest, watch the butterflies - they may have far-reaching consequences. Most of all though, take a few test shots to check the light.

Old Schrödinger laid his cat a-box,
its liveliness to test,
but found himself distracted (fox!)
by an unexpected guest,

And so 6 hours or more had passed
'ere he returned, afraid,
to check the welfare of the cat
that in that box he'd laid,

and when, with trembling hands, he'd pried
the lid off from the box,
he fell down to his knees and cried
when he saw 9 small rocks.

It was a hempen box, you see;
he wept, he wailed, he moaned!
For the cat he'd hoped (too late!) to free
was now quite thoroughly stoned...

(or sumthin' like that, I just dashed this off free-form LOL.

oh good, Still life IV was the very first challenge that I ever entered. This would a good time to try and redeem myself for such a horrible finish.
There were some funny comments tho.

Nothing is clear when it comes to DP Challenge.....and I've got a ton of DNMCs from a challenge that the description was N/A to prove it!

they were taken live, but were recorded and placed here. It has to be a webcam so that it is continually live!

The time has come, the photographer said,
to speak of many things -
like spaced-out cats and strange effects
of philosopher-butterfly wings.

"If seven dpc forum contributors had seven challenges
and discussed them for seven years, do you suppose"
the stoned cat wondered,
"that they could get it clear?"
