A challenge that could shape up to be pretty funny.

LOL, thats hilarious and deeply depressing all at once.

So... I'm assuming here... I guess that most of the entries of both MO/DE will have a load of black space around them. No worries about creating new picture area to get entries DQ'ed? Right?

Good point. They said text is allowed, but site council can you please clarify re the border? (ie, bump :-)

A 720 size would be helpful with this challenge...should just make it Advanced.

I agree - with the inevitable black borders in these shots the actual photo size is going to be minute at basic resolutions! No shot with any detail is going to come up well.

BE WARNED: The first Motivational Poster challenge was under a special rules set and the Motivational Poster II was under Advanced Editing. The current challenge is basic editing, though with a special rule for allowing fonts. So be wary when looking for inspiration in the earlier challenges.

The border rule hasn't changed. Huge borders that are clearly borders will be just as legal now as they always have been.

My favourite from the previous motivational challenge would probably be a good fit for the other challenge...

Love this, SmurfGuy :-)

The demotivational challenge is going to be sooo FUNNY! I can't wait!

Yeah I'm really motivated to do some full on demotivation....

Anyone have any pointers on what font/style those posters usually use? (For those of us who want to really match the "real" posters' look and style). By pointers, I mean specific font names and/or freebee TT sources. ;)

Just done my Demotivational poster and I really enjoyed it. This is a really interesting challenge because the image is there as a crutch to the message, rather than being the whole subject in its own right.

Mine's VERY nasty BTW (and hopefully a bit funny too).

If only we could use overlays lol

Was strongly motivated to create a demotivational poster today, and it was a blast!!! Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with for this; should be a really fun one to vote on.

I'm in. I wish we could use Overlays, too. When I stick to Basic editing I always feel like a slacker. Can't wait for voting to begin, this will be FUN!

OK, I'm new to Photoshop and I can't get my text very large on my motivational photo. It lets me type font size 99 but that still does not look very big. Is there something obvious I'm missing or a tutorial that you know of online somewhere? I'm sure this is a duh to many of you, but if anyone can post a quick how-to I would be grateful.

Are you working on the full size image? If so, I'd recommend resizing to your final submission size before adding the text.
