Here it is - May Overlays ... The Images Thread

As always, there's no rules, no pressure and no 'have to's' - other than using overlays this month.

So whatever lens, whatever processing rules, whatever amount of days you can commit.

Comment when you can - they are always GREATLY appreciated, but never expected - SMILE!

Looking forward to hanging out with my 'tribe' again!

So it's May in Australia - works for me! :o)

Yay! Nothing like a fresh, new side challenge. Looking forward to playing with y'all - and thanks Lisa for initiating.

ETA - I added some notes based on requests. Here is also the overlay I used in this image:

For those who feel they can, it's been suggested that perhaps the images and layers you've used etc may be handy in your 'photographers comments' box on your image - especially for those who are learning this method.

Obviously there's no pressure or expectations - GRIN!

I don't have mine ready yet since our May 1st isn't until tomorrow -- but I can't wait to try to come up with something tonight. I'm so excited to learn from you overlay gurus! :)

I'm not on your list but I would love to get involved. I have never played around with overlays before - but I just did my first one and all I can say is how FUN! I think I will become addicted! It is not very good, but here is my first attempt:

Wow, already some nice pictures on this side challenge. I'm so glad to be back, but as you guys will notice I don't have much experience on the overlays =( but I'm ready to learn.

and here is the corrected version, thanks to cgino and lutchenko suggestion

Can I join in here too, please?

Thought about entering this for the free study (non-overlay version of course) but screw it.

I think this is a good idea & I will try to follow this suggestion. Sometimes the best I can do is post the original, the texture, & the final.

I have a math-friendly brain & recently discovered I can think of layer blends in terms of numbers, with black being 0 and 255 being white. That's why most things show thru black, because the number 0 doesn't change any of the other numbers. Which is why an overlay is more fun if it's not in black and white, but in murky colors. We're working with additive color on the screen, which is why math works on the colors. I've spent much more time working with subtractive color (paint), so this is a new brain-teaser for me!

Just to clarify a rule about my no rule policy - GRIN!

I don't take an image a day for this side challenge - rather I take the opportunity to troll through older images I may have sitting around and give them a 'make-over'.

Obviously you can do what you want - but certainly don't feel like you need to present NEW images - SMILE~

Oh and by the way - are we the coolest bunch/tribe or what! My mojo is on the ascent people - YEAH!
