Stayed up all night because I tried all week to get a good light picture which failed and just before closure I took a shot out of frustration and entered it.

So I needed to post this, because that round, beautiful number will not stay. Now I can sleep the sleep of innocense. Geez, it's 6.20am overhere.

Just pushed the update button and I was right, I won't see that 6.000 ever again.

aaaand as quickly as I got back into challenges, it's now time for another long hiatus from them.

Sure, even though my photo wasn't worthy of the front page, I don't think it was worth a 1 either. Do people here "vote out" what they perceive as competition or something? Pathetic if so.

I think anyone who gives a ribbon winner a 1, 2 or a 3 should be banned lol
I cringe when I see the votes a blue got to see 1's and 2's

Strange - I thought this was a challenge about "Lighting" and not about "Lights" or photos of "Lights"... can't quite understand why my image falls so far below the challenge requirements for voters right now???

Hey all, I didn't enter lighting, but I just finished voting and must say you have wonderful pictures entered. So many fell in my top range and I am finding quite a few favorites to add to my collection of great shots. Thank you!

You have rated 197 of 197 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 2 images (1%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.8883.

I quite agree, we had the Illuminative Subject challenge for photos of lights.

BTW faery, thanks for the nice comment.

Yeah I'm not surprised there's so much subject diversity in this contest. I mean, everything is lit in some way or another. I wouldn't be surprised to see a picture of a chicken doing the splits, with the title "Chicken Doing Splits Under Morning Light".
I suppose when you take a photo you really like, you interpret it in the most favourable way. Still, I've noticed subject definitions do get stretched a lot at times. So to speak. I guess that's where we, the voters, have to make the call.
I have often wondered if people take points off a photo for being off subject, even if it's a great photo. For me it was the winner of the last textures contest. As lovely as it was, I'm sure that same fruity image comes up again and again in every contest, regardless of the topic. I guess points for originality must be in scare supply.

Oddly though, I've been tagged for NOT being original because me and one or two others came up with the same general idea in the same challenge and it had not been done before on here. Like we conspired or something. :)

The Note in the detail says: This does NOT mean the light source itself must be in your photo, although it may be if you wish.

So, being a Dutchie, it's quite easy to get confused, but in my humble opinion photos of 'Lights' or 'Lighting' or both are falling all within the rules as long as they're the main subject.

I have both and I'am getting killed for it I guess, or it must be that voters can't appreciate a little humor.
I started with a 6 this morning and within 25 votes it was down to 4.2000, now it's 4.3667 at 30 votes.

I'm sick of this crap! I don't think that anybody slows down to take the time to really understand and appreciate the creativity that went into my new found style of photographing my subject. I just thought that this challenge would be perfect because the challenge details specified "Use lighting in a creative fashion this week" and that's exactly what my entry is all about.

This is my third attempt at this type of photography in a challenge and nobody has caught on yet to how I light my subjects, even though I decided, this time, to spell it out in the title.

Or....maybe it's me. Maybe I think too much of this entry and two others in the same style in the past year and they are not as wonderful as I think they are. My last Free Study entry (my 49th challenge entry) ended up being my worst score ever and I thought that it would easily be in the top 10%. Boy, was I way off! So, again, maybe it's me that needs to have my head and judgement recalibrated.

Maybe I need to just take a break from here. I would really prefer to truly understand where it is that my expectations are so misguided.

Okay, I'm done ranting for now. Thanks for you time.
