But the two times I've tried they have been closed down due to Jewish holidays.

I need an accessory for a shoot I'm doing next weekend. I go to B&H and they are closed for Passover until Thursday so too late for my needs. Went to Adoroma and same thing.

The same thing happened last time I tried to rush order something from B&H. They were closed and wouldn't reopen until after my deadline had passed.

Very frustrating.

Maybe someday I will buy something without a rush or my need won't correspond with a Jewish holiday.

I am a Jehovah's Witness....Maybe I could open a site...I wouldn't close for ANY holiday! :)

Oh, that's all we need, a camera shop that sells their equipment door to door and then tries to get you to commit to a lifetime warranty that only works for the first 100 customers :P

Well, I toned it down some for the humor factor.

There are alternatives to the NY stores.

Try Norman Camera or Calumet. Both are good retailers with brick and mortar operations in addition to their online presence.

Depending upon the accessory, you might try Overstock.com. With Circuit City, Ritz and others closing up shops, there's a lot of extra inventory to liquidate, and Overstock has some good deals on common filters and bags.

When it happens to me with B&H or Adorama i throw Calumet the biz.

but the flip side is they are open on the days most others are closed... Use whichever is open if your in a hurry.

Have you tried Amazon.com? A lot of dealers are associated with them and there are customer ratings for the dealers.

sure, b&h and adorama are closed, but you can get a coke with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup for a short bit, so it's a fair trade imo.

Yeah I had to wait for a while to make a return because of their vacations.

Do the employees get paid for all those vacations?
If so, it may be a nice place to work.
I bet they're all on salary and worl longer hours when they are open.

Ha, yeah, I'm tempted to try the "kosher coke", but since I haven't had a soda for a few years anyway I think I'll just stay clear.

Calmut didn't have it. Samys said they did so I ordered it only to have them call this AM and say it was out of stock. Amazon says 3 to 4 delay. I have called over 16 dealers and no one can get it to me by this weekend.

is there a way you could redneck it? you know, fashion yourself in a do it yourself manner -- probably using lots of duct tape?

What color are the caps for these? I'd like to try some real sugar
again.

Didn't they pay a $4,000,000.00 settlement for not promoting non-Jews?

No quite...but close

The EEOC’s lawsuit, filed under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 alleged that B & H paid Hispanics in its warehouses less than non-Hispanic workers and failed to promote them or provide them health benefits based on their national origin (EEOC v. B & H Foto and Electronics Corp., No. 07- CV-9241). The court filed complaint is resolved simultaneously through the voluntary settlement of this matter by consent decree under which B & H agrees to comply with the requirements of Title VII; equalize the wages of Hispanic employees to their non-Hispanic coworkers; and to work with the EEOC in a claims process to distribute $4.3 million in monetary relief to individuals who were paid less, not promoted, or denied benefits because they are Hispanic.

That's the current plan. I'm going to Calmut tomorrow to see what they might have that could be jury rigged.
