Just got my 300D today. The first thing I noticed is that the LCD is going to get destroyed quickly by shirt buttons and jean pocket rivets if unprotected. I did a search for 300D LCD protectors and came up w/ these two comapnies: 'da Protector and Hoodman.
Any recommendations? The hoodman only covers the LCD but looks more heavyduty, while 'da Protector covers the LCD and the data window above it but looks much thinner.

| Either will work but if it makes a difference to you, you will most often see professionals using hard style covers like the one from hoodman. |

My 300D has had a reasonably hard life, taken 13,000+ shots this year, been out in the rain, and been dangling from my neck with/without a 70-200/2.8L attached. One thing that's still almost perfect condition is the LCD. Maybe that's just me though..

The one i made (and sell) is to protect from scratches and shocks. See it (in french) at

(and many pictures shots page 1 - shots page 2 - shots page 3 )
and i can write on it your name, nickname, website.... no other company do this ;)

I'm not sure about the 300D, but the plastic cover over the LCD on the 10D can be replaced... I think the part is $9.00.

I use the hoodman LCD protector sheets. You get a bunch of them for around $9. They can be used on your camera and other devices, like cell phones.
Be careful when ordering--see their size sheet online. I ordered the 2" sheets, based on the size of my dRebel LCD, but they are not really big enough for the drebel.. You must use the sizing charts online.
And I suggest you get the size big enough to cover the photo LCD and the LCD status panel! |

| Why not just buy a set of PDA protectors and cut them to the right size, or companies like Hamma sell sheets to cut out and stick over your LCD. Thes are easy toremove, and don't distort the optics. |

FWIW, this is exactly the same as the hoodman sheets. They are simply stick on plastic sheets. I don't know which is better or has better optics. |

This is my experience with the 10D as well. 8,000+ shots (no additional protection) and there is nary a mark, not even a hairline. I've carted that camera around North America, the Pacific, Asia, Europe... |

I have looked at the Hoodman items for my new Canon.
I like the option of using the protector skin - but I'm wondering if anyone has the actual LCD cap that flips up. It's supposed to provide glare shade so you can see the LCD better outside.
Can anyone respond with personal experience with this?
