Cripes. Just finished typing a long PM. I chose to copy myself and then clicked send. It happened to be right at midnight. Instead of seeing a copy of my message and confirmation, I got the "please wait while results are being processed" message. For sending a PM?! Anyway, the message didn't go through. I clicked the back button, and it was gone, of course...

Frustrating as hell. I'm already losing an hour tonight. I think I'm going to bed now.

Any time I'm making a long, detailed PM I do it in word anyway, then copy it to the PM data field. So I have my own record archived...

I had that to happen on a PM or two and also on a comment that was not in the closing challenge.

That's happened to me, too, but it wasn't at midnight. The rollover time here in California is 9:00 pm. So the chances of me PM'ing then are much higher than it would be at midnight.

Yeah, I've learned the hard way that before I hit "post" I copy :)

Slightly unrelated, but we have a web based system in our office where we're supposed to track our career and development (you know the kind of stuff).

It takes ages to do an everyone hates doing that sorta thing, but this one, if you forget to save it at regular intervals, which can quite easily happen if someone distracts you with something else, it times out, only it doesn't tell you it's timed out until you hit the save button, at which point it goes to another page and tells you it has timed out. Of course you hit back in hope but then you just get a blank form again.

You wouldn't believe how many times I have typed pages worth of stuff and lost the lot!

I just looked at your location, I think we might work for the same company! You wouldn't be referring to your PDG would you? :)

This is all very bizarre, because as I'm reading Covert_Oddity's message, I'm (also) thinking, either we work for the same company, or that there's some unwritten rule somewhere stating that career performance tools must time out and sacrifice all of your work. I do work for a global company with lots of business down under...

Anyway, yes, I normally do compose off line in a text editor (TextPad is an invaluable tool), but what started out as a few quick and dirty lines turned into a couple paragraphs. Usually, at a minimum, I select all and copy while I work, so at least my work is saved to the clipboard, but I didn't even do that this time.

Eventually I'll learn.

If you had firefox you could have clicked back and everything would have still been there. This was one of my reasons to go to FF.

Indeed, that one feature of FF has saved me some time on several occasions!

not sure if it related, but several comments I made during the afternoon/evening on FS entries either vanished or never got posted. Most did, but some few did not. Can't remember what time I was making which comments.

I remember that your comment on my FS kept re-setting and I had to click "mark as helpful" on it three times.

weird.... I didn't re-edit it or anything. Wow: Daylight Savings Time switch had more consequences than Y2K!!

(also weird, but unrelated: when looking at your image I got a whole weekend afternoon vibe from it, mentioned Saturday in my comments, and didn't even notice your "Sunday" title until after rollover! A well communicated mood in that image, there, buddy!)

I decided not to suggest that My comments are three times as helpful :-)
