Theater, art, literature, cinema, press...must be cleansed of all manifestations of our rotting world and placed in the service of a moral, political, and cultural idea.

But for some reason I feel the need to vote on the "pets" challenge.

Hmm.

It's probably because you subscribe to Penthouse and expected it to be a nude challenge...

R.

No way! Nude cats are even worse!

After reading this long, convoluted thread...I am now starting to get concerned about how well my photo will be received by the voters!

My two cents on this: If I don't like the subject matter and I don't feel that I can vote an individual photo based on the technicals of the photo than I just pass on voting on that one. For instance, I am not a fan of gore and if I ran across a photo of blood and guts and my first thought was ewww - not wow! great lighting, comp, etc. as it relates to the challenge than I move onto the next and just don't vote. Not everyone is going to love everybody's interpretation of their art but you should be able to appreciate what they have accomplished (especially knowing the technical side of it). If you can't - have the moral compass to move on, you don't have to pass along your biased judgment in an attempt to get everyone to see your point.

The proper comparison would have been as follows...

If squirrels were invading my yard, I may shoot them down. But if barriers are set up to prevent them from getting in my yard, I wouldn't hunt them down to find them.

See, when they are forced, I do what I have to. When they are kept away, I don't worry about them.

My original statement was correctly phrased and properly stands.

How does this not surprise me??? You actually believe that you are 'forced' to kill squirrels? Wow. Yeah, I'm sure your deity 'forces' a wrath of squirrels upon you, just so that you are justified in killing something. Then again, that sounds just like your kind of justification: baffling and bothersome. Every time I think (hope?) we've read the worst from you, another surprise comes about.

Your statements create confusion and misinterpretation (yes, I said it. it is YOUR fault that people do not clearly understand your intent.) This latest one doesn't help your viewpoint in the least.

*sidenote - RTFO, Judi ;)

You are missing the point. I only speak for myself here but I do NOT care how you vote or WHY. Shoot squirrels who invade your lawn, vote pictures you do not like 1, for whatever reason.

What you are doing is another thing though, you are trying to force your own beliefs on other people by trying to convince others to do what you want them to do. You are trying to force a website you do not own into doing thigs your way. If you do not like it here, just leave, nobody is forcing you to stay. Start your own website with nude warnings, I am sure that others who agree with you will gladly follow.

Do you not realize that in the case of DPC, your are entering somone else's yard and finding "squirrels"? Your hypocrisy is quite blatant. If someone finds off-color humor offensive, but continuously patronizes comedy clubs only to rail about the language, wouldn't you find that strange? If you don't want to hear dirty jokes, stay out of comedy clubs and if you don't want to see nudes, stay out of DPC. Your viewpoint regarding nudes is perfectly acceptable, but the fact that you patronize DPC when there are many other outlets to express one's passion for photography is extremely hypocritical. You remind me of the person looking at his neighbors with binoculars only to complain about their offensive behavior.

How do you think a regular old portrait will score in this deal. I have an image that is stellar, but it is a boring old portrait. 5.5? or would it tank because it DNMC? She has great skin...?

great skin in a stellar portrait seems like a good entry to me. I entered something along those lines.

"Many things have skins. Take a photo of some kind of skin"

go for it! I double-dog dare ya!

Wait, you will way way way outscore me. RETRACTION: don't do it, don't do it. Whaddya thinkin, with great skin in a great portrait in a Skin challenge? Save it for the Free Study!

Wait, you'll outscore me in the FS, too. Just keep it to yourself, okay!!

:-))

I'm not wagering on this! My momma didn't raise no fool! But the score thread posting will be more fun. (note to self: go google some good trash talk stuff to use...)

Seriously--GOOD LUCK to you, sir. :-)

Nevermind. I broke a rule and had to unsubmit. I just can't enter any of these challenges. All my stuff has been worked on too much to qualify. Oh well. Here was my entry:

It just doesn't look right without the burning, so there is no way to enter it.
