" If I hunt them down to vote them low, then i will have forced myself to see them. "

C'mon. That quote has been hacked to death already and clarified.

So what i'm gathering about this argument about nudes, is that some people have a filter on so that they don't have to see nudes, but end up seeing nudes in challenges so they vote the nudes low because they don't like seeing nudes. Am I right here?

In some countries viewing the bottom of someone's show is the highest insult. Where is the filter for that during challenges? Some people are get queasy when seeing blood, where is the filter for that? For drugs? For religion? For racism? For kids? I think everyone wants to tailor this site to their own personal needs, and if the SC completely did that we wouldn't be able to see anything on the site...

Most challenges on this site CAN be met using a nudes. Do they have to use them? NO. But can they and are they ALLOWED to? Yes. So why should these people be punished for using something that is within the frame of the rules and within the challenge description? Everyone has the right to receive FAIR voting during the challenges. Everyone on this site has different specialties and this is a site about sharing those specialties and receiving feedback.

Hawkeye (i'm only calling you out because you are the most vocal on this) you say you are FORCED to view nudes during challenges. You aren't forced into anything. You voluntarily participate on the site. You voluntarily vote in challenges. You can select which challenges you want to vote in. If you truly don't want to see the nude shots, AVOID THEM. How can you avoid them? Stick to challenges that couldn't have a nude in them. If the subject is cats, it probably won't have a nude in it and you can vote in it. If it is titled skin, it will probably have nudes in it and you can avoid them. The ones you aren't sure about, how about looking at the thumbnails and avoiding the nudes that way. You aren't FORCED to vote on the nudes. You know that you can't possibly give a fair vote on any nudes because you don't like seeing them...if one accidentally comes up, then skip over it and just don't vote on it. You can be fair in voting, but you choose to go out and be malicious.

Here is my question for SC....Someone is OPENLY stating that they are voting maliciously...where is the vote scrubber and site warnings for this? Isn't the site supposed to prevent these types of actions? Someone who specializes in nudes or something of the sort is obviously being targeted by this individual with low votes.

Also, since people try to use the excuse that kids use the site and such, maybe DPC should put a warning on the front page that states "This is a photography website. Some images may depict objects or actions that may be offensive to some cultures" or something of the sense....that way everyone knows what they are getting into before they allow their kids to join the site.

I think in general the "Adult Content" filter was put in place as a NSFW item along with the forum "Hide Post", etc...

You'd be surprised (actually you shouldn't) when & where Nude photos will show up - participants of nearly any challenge theme can find some way to get them in, and do.

Same can be said for water drops, cats, kids, bug macros, etc... It's been openly mentioned in other forum threads over time that personal preference does influence voting.

As far as this topic goes, I think DPC should keep everything the way it is and just give us a Hawkeye Lonewolf filter instead. Anyone else like that idea? Really I am tired of his complaining. No one here is holding a gun to his head forcing him to do anything, I doubt anyone is forcing him to stay here either, However if you are forcing him to stay, Will you please for the sake of the rest of us Stop!

The one thing no one ever mentioned seems so obvious to me. Even though he is ignoring this now, at the beginning Hawkeye said if he didn't see the nudity he wouldn't be forced to vote on it......

last time i looked NO ONE is forced to vote on every image in a challenge, you only need to vote on 20% of the images to have your votes count.....

What a cool discussion.

WARNING TO ALL SKIN VOTERS. My entry is going to be showing a lot of skin, and to do that I need my model to remove a lot of clothes. I am not sure if she will be Nude or not... but she won't be clothed. If you don't like Nudity, or lots of skin, then please just skip it... don't vote it down.

That said, as I know there are a lot of Prudes here on DPC (Funnily enough most seem to be Americans) so I won't be showing any breasts.

A lot of it is a cultural difference in thinking towards nudes.
I have been living here in Germany for 20 years, and Nudity here is absolutley accepted. You can go into the central park here in Munich and sunbathe nude if you want to (many do). On prime time television you see advertisments of naked people advertising products like margarine.

If I looking of photos of tastefull nudes and my kids come into my room I don't hide it. They have seen hundreds of pictures of nudes and accept it as a normal thing.. not a dirty thing. (NOTE: I am not talking about Pornography here)

Anyway thanks to Judy & the rest for defending Nudity in images.

When the photos are displayed randomly you have no control over what will show up on your monitor next. Are you suggesting that thumbnail voting would be the way to go here? :-)

I'll be sure to vote nudes especially high to offset Hawkeye's ridiculous, close-minded, bible-hugging choice to score them all a 1.

i am suggessting that you are not forced to VOTE on every image, you only need vote on 20% to make you vote count. So what I am suggessting is if you find the image offensive, DON'T vote on it and move to the next one

Agreed. But one could also ask if it was possible for Hawkeye to make a point without childishly voting a 1.
