Normally I like to start the day with some conservative, conspiracy theory radio to get the blood roiling and wake me up for the day. If that's not available I go to my backup, RANTs on DPChallenge.

Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer good or new rants showing up here.

Where have all the angry people gone? Is everyone taking Prozac? That would not only explain the lack of wild griping, but the "Oh so pretty" pictures that are taking over the site. How about some REAL ranting? Not just "People don't understand me on this site, I'm much better than my votes show." How about some more HUMOROUS and DARING photos?

EXAMPLE (not my picture):

(Just throwing a firecracker at a bee's nest. Now I'm standing back so as not to get stung too badly, but close enough to see the chaos and righteous indignation abound)

Grrr ... I haven't even finished one cup of coffee yet and you want me to start ranting already?

There, is that better?

Sorry. I was fasting for a blood test and didn't get my normal caffeine boost on schedule. I'm pumped now, and ready when you are.

Dang, and the HMO just called yesterday wondering why I didn't have a primary practitioner yet ... I see LDL/HDL ratios in my future ... :)

Not the end of the world, Paul. I was told about 8 years ago that I had high cholesterol - I think that my total was around 240. So I tried to reduce it by giving up everything I like - ice cream, pizza, cheeseburgers, french fries ( you get the idea ). Six months later I had a re-test - the total number went UP to 260. Needless to say, I went OFF the diet. Number went back down to 240.
A couple of years later I applied for a life insurance policy and was told that I could save around 50% of the premiums if I could get my cholesterol under 200. I knew that I couldn't do it with diet, so since then, I've been taking a statin drug and it keeps my cholesterol levels under 200 - and the cost of the prescriptions and tests is less than the amount of money I save on premiums. But, I do have to get tested every 6 months or so to insure that my liver function is still OK. So far, so good.
AND, I get to eat pizza and cheeseburgers. AND, recent studies have shown other benefits to taking statin drugs.

Still, I hope that you don't become one of us druggies. Good luck.

Unfortunately, the example you chose for 'humorous and daring' is neither. In fact, it's not even in focus.
Perhaps a better shot would stir the pot more vigorously.

Why does every teenage boy have to total the family car?? Please send me all of your prozac!

I think it is a rite of passage for most young men, sandwiched in between finding his Playboy/Hustler stash and getting his first ticket for minor in possession...

That is a joke by the way...I have three sons myself so I feel your pain!

Actually, I found that shot, bad focus not withstanding, to be quite funny (looking at some of my pictures might tell you why my sense of humor is skewed). I did not want to promote my own shots (like this one):

So how about this one as an alternative?

Well, these shots are certainly more humorous, though I don't consider either daring. Your water bottle guy is, despite the border, a fantastic shot. One of the few 10s I've given. Congrats on a truly outstanding picture.

Ahh. Very interesting, indeed. Some of the "truth" I heard in just a few minutes was ( in reference to the Pentagon ban on photographing the coffins of U.S. military dead returning from Iraq ):

"So they aren't allowed to have funerals for the dead".

and ( in reference to Kim Jong Il, questioning why so many Manicurists are Korean ):

"Well, the Swedes, they make Swedish food; the Columbians, they make coffee".

Yep. It sure is some kind of truth, for a change. But not the kind of "truth" that most intelligent people would subscribe to.

okay...

Topic: 2003 had the lowest number of terrorist attacks world wide since 1969.

Left and Right, rant away!

I'm sorry... how did this conversation turn from ranting about awful photos to some racist saying something like: "Oh ya, Vote Kerry, He support terrorists of every color, as long as they hate America!!!" I'm not American, so I have no opinion abut Kerry... but why is it assumed terrorists are people of colour!? Have you ever heard of Waco?! Ever hear of a couple of WHITE boys who did something in a little place called Oklahoma?! Oh forgot, the white terrorists only support the republican party.

Now that I have that out of the way... I am really really really tired of people photographing toys or sticks of deodorant. I mean, it's okay if the toy is shot in some sort of interesting way, but that is always rare. grrr... cna't people see that terribly shot pictures of toys and stuffed animals almost always finish in the bottom 10 in these challenges. double grrr...

LOL, good one! *I* hold these truths to be self evident . . .

Who will I vote for in the next election? Whoever the terrorists *least* want to see in office. 'Nuff said.

So that'd be Kerry then ? After all - without Bush they loose great Evil rhetoric that's letting them be martyrs and gain support...

Isn't white a color too? If he said "terrorists of every color", that would be including Timothy McVeigh, wouldn't it?

My van is almost new again. The 19 took out the front and left side and the 17 year took out the rear and right side. Time for them to get their own insurance. Nobody has rolled it yet, so the roof is four years old now.

It's a knee-jerk reaction of the left that is embedding much like the desire for girls to play with barbie and boys with GI-Joe.

They see someone from the right making said comment, and if it is about anyone who is not pure bread white, then I'm a racist or a homophobe or a women hater. Personally I think they are the racists, but then again, how dare I think everyone else is just as capable if not more than I...
