You are not using Internet Explorer 6, are you? If so, I strongly urge you to switch over to Firefox, or at least go to IE7, which is more secure than 6.

No......
Open internet Explorer (ignore where it goes)
In the upper area (ie where File Edit etc are) the last one is Help
At the bottom of the Help dropdown menu, should be About Internet Explorer
A small pop-up will appear with the details of your version of internet explorer
In this will be a version number

| Keep track of the websites you're going to. A lot of spyware automatically installs when you visit certain iffy websites. |

| Well, it only takes one glean of a visit (the page doesn't even need to fully load) for the spyware to install itself. Do you share this computer with anyone? Perhaps they visited a site you were unaware of. If not, there is also the possibility that the spyware was not fully removed from your computer previously. |

And many of them use ActiveX and Javascript to install without you knowing. Which is why I always suggest a browser that does not support activex and a script blocking extension. |

well, im the only one who uses the computer for the most part. i have a tendency of screaming at my boyfriend when he uses it since he destroyed my old lap top by visiting a bad site. my computer dude installed super anti-spyware and the new version of avg, so im guessing i didnt get any new spyware. i just dont know, its getting stupid at this point |

Every blue screen I've seen in the past 4-5 years has been caused by a hardware problem, either hardware failing or a bad device driver. If you haven't added any new hardware or updated any device drivers, then you probably have a piece of hardware that's slowly dying.
You're doing backups regularly, right? |

mmm no. i have all my photos on an external harddrive though. thats the only real important stuff i have. but yeh i should be backing up regularly. |
