I know that a lot of people on this site tend to get into a rut of shooting just for DPC challenges, so I'm interested in what type of side projects people are working on.

I currently have a project that I hope to turn into an e-book or real book of cowboys/rodeos/Texas. If you follow my PAD gallery on pbase, you'll have seen some of the picks that will likely end up in it. I heard one person yesterday chatting that they're shooting cars in a junkyard... something I'd never thought of. So what peaks your interest other than DPC?

I´m always planing something but since I´m a hard working family man the time is a limiting factor.
Almost the only thing I photogarph besides the DPC things are my 2 young kids and my working fellows. I would realy like to see some suggestions here.

I am taking pictures of my son (2 yo) every month and it will end up as a calendar for the grandparents for Christmas.

I am also doing some landscapes of the Smoky Mountains for my sister to sell in the store she is manager of.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church

I'm working on this project for my church. It's going to take until at least the end of the year to finish, but it will finish as a DVD slideshow and hopefully a coffee table book with some of the images in it.

Being a fromer Marine I am considering doing a Woman Marines project. I still work on a Marine base, so the subjects wouldn't be hard to find. Woman Marines tend to be steroetyped in a negative way and I would like to show them in a different light. The only problem I would have is my wife letting me take pictures of other women. They would all be fully dressed and in uniform, but I still don't think my wife would like it.

Someday I'd like to arrange an East Coast GTG here. That would be a project. Who knows, maybe next year.

Some interesting project going on! I just love the diverse and talented people on this site!

I'm doing the Photo-a-Day Project on PBase, it's done wonders for my "gotta take a photo of this some time" list, it's gotten much shorter. Also helped me experiment more (both in camera and with editing) because I *have* to post a pick every day, no matter what.

I'm also currently working on getting a portfolio together so that I can start approaching some of the local coffee shops that display and sell photos on their walls. So, if there are any of my flower pix (that's going to be my theme for now just because I didn't want a jumble of images, they are accessible to take pix of and I think I am able to find an unusual angle sometime), please let me know. My "flower power" gallery on PBase can be found here.

i'm working on a series of photos from the local cemetery .

there does seem to be an interest locally in a book about the history of some of the more colorful citizens of Natchez and Vidalia.

That was me Danny, Im working on a series of junk yard images, probally to be used for an online zine.

I have a current project I recently did uploaded at 28mm.org called Downtown Laundromat

The project Im most proud of is a toy camera book that is actually printing as we speak. I joined a group of 26 photographers and we did everything in house to produce a 1000 copy first run hard cover book. Each photographer had to shoot, and ready 4 images for the book production. Several members in the group did some writing, and designed the book covers and layout. You can see some more info at the toy camera website

Another project thats still in the works, are Polaroid manipulations. I use an old 70's era SX-70 camera with Time Zero film. I then manipulate the actual polaroid film which creates a nice paintery feel to the shot. Im hoping to use these for some other print type products. Here are a few in my DPC polaroid manip folder

I definately love to work on projects, and come up with new ideas for shoots.

my lastest project is shooting everyone I know. I wann a do portraits of people in my life. Folks that I see everyday, people that I see at work, even those I see working in the my regular grocery store. My firends as well. I think it will be very interest & challenging, shooting portraits of so many people while finding different ways of doing it. :)
