Guy's this is getting a bit out of hand, as we say in the Aussie team, "we're not playing for sheep stations here". If judi wants to put her team together of what we should all admit are a fine and RESPECTED group of photographers here on DPC good luck to them.

Not sure if Judi was referring to me when she was commenting on the feeling of some members of the Aussie team, but I admit I was disappointed like naomik that she wasn't playing with us, but I wouldn't say "so upset". I think terms like "Yesterdays Heroes" etc were meant as tongue in cheek banter with an ex team captain ( I know I've said much worse to our current captain vlado and he still talks to me...sometimes :) ), and if you read the posts again I think thats clear. The Aussie team as far I know has no great ill will against Judi, and sorry if you took it that way, and good luck.

So DPCO competitors, may I say lighten up, move on, and sit back and enjoy the comp. Lets see what these Olympians can do (I think some would kick butt even if they took up Judi's suggestion of using their Mattel Barbie camera). So good luck to ALL teams and let the games begin!

Oh yeh I almost forgot, GO AUSSIE

Thankyou....I am pleased that this conversation is calming down. I wish everyone good luck....! This is after all, for fun.

Interfere? The idea was to have a fairly even challenge routine spread out over the 8-10 weeks - or however long it is. The Minimal and Advanced rulesets for the Open challenges are not unheard of. Just look at the recent Stock Photo challenges. Those were Advanced.

By using the Minimal ruleset, everyone is forced to use their camera/lens/filters to the best of their ability without any post-processing influence. This most definitely gives each and every team a shot at taking on the PS gurus. Basic is just Basic. We're all fairly used to that. Advanced is looked upon as a nice relief in the Open challenges since it gives everyone loose PP freedom.

I think that with an alternating ruleset rotation, it would also mix up the MVP candidates. Personally, I feel that the guy or gal who comes out on top by using all three rulesets is a true MVP. PP'ing wizardry can make any poorly taken photo look halfway decent.

As far as the whole stacked team riff-raff goes, I could care less about what teams get stacked. Coming from an extremely competitive volleyball point-of-view, if a #1 ranked Open team ends up losing to a lower level A team, that's pretty humiliating. I think Judi knows they have a huge ass target on their backs and that if they don't come in 1st place, people will be talking about and razzing them for a very long time....not to mention the bragging rights of any team that places ahead of them.

Yes Tony... well said. Though, I'm sure I told you to "fan the fire" not "put it out"... must be the heat here in Melbourne effecting your comprehension. ;)

Well, this has lead me to rethink the diatribe I had prepared in my mind that I was about to fire at Judi in defence of the Australian team... no need now that we're all peace love and mung beans again.

I would like to just say in regards to some of the issues Judi mentioned. In regards to us supposedly ignoring your well wishes. Let me say now, thank you for your well wishes, and sorry for not saying so earlier. Personally, I didn't ignore them, but rather I was awaiting the explaination you promised. I, as it appear many others, were (some still are) suspicious about your reasons for assembling an all-star team. In hind sight, the reasons matter nought... you were well within your right to do so. As Dirt Diver (by the way, DD, stellar job your doing... I can't say THANK YOU enough) said let's see how it goes, and if it doesn't work, we'll (he'll) change it for DPCO-V (assuming the ill will doesn't kill the concept all together... but I think we've progressed from that).

Finally, let me say, congratulations on putting together such a strong team, and especially for getting some great DPC member to come back after extended hiatus.

Here's hoping that we're all able to have some fun with this and improve our photography... God knows that's why I put myself through DPCO time and time again.

Can I just remind everyone that WE, POLAND, are STILL the team to beat and that Judi and her Oly pians can eat our dirt... GRRRRRRR!

I understand the original idea was to be in a team that represents your country of origin BUT, Shit happens, Things change. I think everyone and their team should just get on with it and be more concerned about US than some 2c bunch of HAS-BEENS like the Olympians

Yes, thank you MAK for pointing out that we "Davids" have at least two Goliaths we need to slay.

I intend to do my best to help Team Canada III succeed anyways, but this has certainly taken away a lot of the excitement and anticipation I had originally.

You mean like how your post promotes harmony? Maybe you fail to see because you don't bother to open your eyes to read? I wouldn't even bother responding had you not basically call Judi a liar. She made it clear what the purpose was. If you don't believe it, too bad.

Get real. Perhaps you would feel differently if you were the one that had gotten the PM from Judi assuring me that her team she was building was not going to be a team of superstars, and would have participants from many different levels and would not be a stacked team. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck....

Yawn... excuses and justifications bore me as do false pleas of "getting along just for fun".

If it were "just for fun" then there would be no need for a ringer team. I cannot believe people want to pretend this is something it is not. Blah Blah Blah.

Oh, the competition is so on! I think we have more important things to do then quibble about teams, like trash talkin' for instance...

Bring it!

I was going to wait until Tuesday to open the forum but I figured we could use the extra few days. If anyone has any problems, errors, misunderstandings, drop outs, or anything else I can't think of right now please let me know, asap.
BTW do not post here that you want to join, I am not keeping track of names here. That's why I made the signup page.

Just so anyone still interested (and has posts reversed) can easily find the link without having to sift through the rest of the thread.

Last season each team just took care of their own banners for the most part.

I will be doing the banner(s) for team Canada.

C'mon folks - just one more needed to fill the Midwest Team!

I'll volunteer to be the Team Captain if no one else cares to. If someone with more experience wants it.. that's cool too. I just wanna have some fun with this, and have a FULL TEAM.

Remember, if the team is full we have more "cushion" for a week that just wasn't going your way....

Last year I think I only made three of them. The US Northwest, Equestrians and the Islanders. I think that was it. If you guys want to keep the look of those and just need it updated let me know and I can do that for you or provide you the templates. I can also provide templates to anybody else who wants to create new jerseys/banners. I have the following styles:

- Hockey jersey
- Soccer/Futbol jersey
- Basketball jersey

yanko - if you don't mind, I'd like a copy of the templates. Maybe I can come up with something for MidWest...
