Hey...that wasn't called for Millsa!

I assumed that since half you members weren't real dpc usernames, that you were stopping non-invited people from joining your team before those who were invited to join could sign up, ie a mercenary team. BTW I have no problems with people joining other teams, there have been enough people in the past wanting to play that there were a lot of people not in there "origin" team.

Anyway we need something to stir up the Aussie team and unite, what better than our long standing captain and highest scorer joining another team :) We now have a few points to make up!

edit 'cuse I mucked the quotes up

Millsa...there is a reason behind this team...I will reveal all once I finalise everything.

Well, it seems I spoke a little early. I mis-interpreted what Judi had planned for her new team and I was wrong to think that she was trying to create a stacked team. My apologies to Judi and IreneM if I upset you. :)

Joe, I do appreciate your efforts, and I guess the bottom line is you will never be able to make everyone happy. You are trying to make this site a more interesting place and encourage people to enter more challenges and get out of their normal comfort zones and you have done so very well.

Occasionally I need to remind myself this is all about fun and it is only for cyber ribbons after all. :)

Cheers and good luck to all!

I do however stand by my statement that the Snowmen of Team Canada III are going to ice the competition...MUHAHA

Ahh mystery and intrigue, like a good novel. Maybe I'll have to instead rally the team against those pesky Icelanders and their unnaturally beautiful landscape, surly there should be some rule against it :)

And yes we all appreciate the effort Joe goes to for this challenge, thank you.

Icelanders, Snowmen, Olympians, small furry critters with sharp claws, it doesn't matter the Aussie team is ready...
...well almost!

I say BRING ON THE BIG GUNS, saberi, Librodo, irene? whoever it is, who cares? I think it will enhance the entry level and make us all knock it up a gear or 2, I'm here to have fun and If Poland Has to take down a few BIG SCALPS on the way to victory then so be it, let the games begin....

Hey Joe, Can you take me off? The more I thought about it, I decided I don't really have the time to commit. Thanks, Terry

I just found this thread and I was wondering is it too late to sign up for this, could you please let me know?

I played for Team Canada III last time and I would love to play again :)

MAX!

Team Canada III is full at the moment. Why don't you start another Team Canada. I'm sure there enough Canadians to fill the team considering last season we were able to fill 3 teams.

ETA: LVicari is leaving our team, but I have already invited silverhawk to replace him.

I was going to wait until Tuesday to open the forum but I figured we could use the extra few days. If anyone has any problems, errors, misunderstandings, drop outs, or anything else I can't think of right now please let me know, asap.
BTW do not post here that you want to join, I am not keeping track of names here. That's why I made the signup page.

MAX,

Here's the original post by DD. Click the link and check the roster link on the left. Canada I has been removed but there's still a slot for Canada II. No one's signed up yet but maybe between those on the original Canada I and II the team could be filled.

everyone please remember, that while this is not an "official" DPC tournament, all voting and entering rules should be abided. That means don't share entries, and if you do, don't vote for your team members and certainly don't do "anything it takes" to put your team in the lead. Play nice, play fair and have fun!

EXACTLY which is why I only have 2 rules:
//www.treasureshackonline.com/DPChallenge/terms.php

1. No cheating allowed. If photo sharing between team members will happen you may not vote on the image.
2. All other DPC rules apply.

I am kind of curious as to what would prompt a post like this? It is very close to accusing people of cheating. I am sure everyone is very aware of the photo sharing rules, and it is the duty of the captains to make sure that is understood.

Against my better judgment I've signed up again. I'm sure my camera will start growing something if I don't take it out of the bag occasionally.

There have been a few grumblings in the forums over 'The Olympians' team. I promised I would reveal what the team is about once I had the team finalised. The team is now finished, so here is what we are up to.

All the members on this team have very hectic lives...like most of you. We have all won ribbons in the past....some more than others. I know that someone called our team 'Yesterdays Heroes' and there is probably some truth in that as some of these members rarely enter on this site anymore. So many people get driven from this site because of the whinging in the forums and on their images about repeat styles/subjects/techniques. Instead of members celebrating when someone wins a ribbon....they belittle it.

And then when a side challenge like this comes along....the majority of the people on this team are the ones that are usually the first ones that are hassled to be on teams...to help that team win....and this puts more pressure on them to do so. But more times than none...they are expected to carry the team. And yet they get crap from so many members when they do win. Other teams then start grumbling about that team winning only because of the 'big guns' on the team. And when those teams don't win....again they start complaining. Those 'big guns' are human too....and yet they are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Many of them are leading extremely hectic lives and can't always enter challenges....but in a side challenge...the pressure is on for them to do even better. You see so many teams and members taking breaks from side challenges and DPC in general because of the pressure to do well or the crap that gets thrown at them.

So I have built a team...but not the 'Ribbon Hogs' type team as you might think. There is a range of levels within the members....of all abilities. And some may not be entering each week. This is a team where there is no pressure to win...just to relax and have fun...enter when we can...and enter what they like without having the team on their backs. Allowing them to be themselves....and not be what the other members want.

The whole point of this team is to be an International team that just joins in the fun...not necessarily to go out and win. I don't care if we come dead last...but at least I know that my team members have enjoyed the experience and entered images that they want to enter...and not just entered what DPC want them to enter just to win a ribbon.

I don't want the 'ribbon hogs label' that seems to follow a team like this...instead I am trying to show sportsmanship...by letting the usual ribboners just have fun for a change.

There has been so much competitive crap going on in these side challenges....I want to try and stop that and just let people have fun....take it back to what it was originally intended to be.

I hope that makes sense.

So our team is as follows -

Judi
IreneM
Coley
Librodo
Brat
HotPasta
Yanko
Grigrigirl

And as I have already done in the Aussie thread...I wish all the teams the very best...and please everyone...just have fun...let's leave the nasty streaks at the door. I, for one, will be happy with whatever my team do....they can use toy cameras or mobile phones if they like...as long as they enjoy themselves.

Judy I think it is good that some of “yesterday hero’s” are back and look forward to seeing some of their entries but I feel your noble gesture in bringing this group together would hold a lot more integrity if you had not included yourself in the group and stayed with your Australian team. It appears from the outside that the Aussie team got shafted a little.

Just out of curiosity is this group of “non ribbon hogs” going to be sharing photo’s, ideas and techniques during this side challenge?

Where do the rules state that I HAVE to stay with one team right throughout the Olympics...I know of many members who have switched teams and countries...why am I excluded from that?

As for sharing....some of the members prefer not to share....instead go on their own intuition....but the offer is there if they do....that will be entirely up to the team to decide on a preferred sharing method if at all.

I honestly do not know what to think. I have a lot of respect for Judi and think she is a great lady. After I posted about her "ribbon hogs" team I was assured that I was wrong and that her team would have many different levels of members involved, and it would not be a "ribbon hogs" type team. I am man enough to admit when I am wrong so I posted an apology for jumping to conclusions.

It is not my place to pass judgement on anyone, and DD did make it clear that teams no longer had to abide by any rules as far as place of origin. Obviously they have broken no rules. They are simply a very good group of photographers.

Here are "the Olympians" stats, and I will leave everyone to reach their own conclusions. As I said, I am not sure what to think.

Judi: 6.00 avg, 20 ribbons, 14 HM

IreneM: 6.36 avg, 42 ribbons, 19 HM

Coley: 5.98 avg, 15 ribbons, 10 HM

Librodo: 6.51 avg, 32 ribbons, 14 HM

Brat: 5.64 avg, 2 ribbons

Hotpasta: 6.23 avg, 21 ribbons, 9 HM

Yanko: 6.30 avg, 12 ribbons, 6 HM

Grigrigirl: 5.89 avg, 9 ribbons, 4 HM

If you average their totals: avg 6.11, 19.12 ribbons, 9.5 HM

@ keegbow I see no problem with them sharing. Team Southwest shares, critiques, etc. It's a big help. There is always room for growth and improvement, regardless of the hobby or profession.

As for Judi's team. So what, I like the challenge. I see a couple of other teams that look strong, and most of the teams, including Southwest, do not have a legit shot to win, but we will try and improve upon our 4th place from last season. That's the case in all arenas of competition, even if it is for a virtual ribbon and bragging rights. From my personal life, I understand Judi's point of view and I take it at face value.

So, Judi, I think it's time you tell the entire truth...you really are bummed that we beat you last season! ;)
