Please help. I am using CS2 and Lightroom 1.4 and I'd like to "tone" down the shine in the skin. Here is an example.

I like the picture! I'm sure others will chime in with better suggestions, but I find that sometimes using Shadow/Highlight - turn off the shadow bit & just adjust the highlights - can help with this. I'm curious to see what others do... |

Try using an airbrush, at 30% opacity (100% flow) and 0% hardness. Alt-click an area of skin next to the offending highlight and brush over the highlight to tone it down a bit and bring it closer to the tonality of the surrounding skin.
But if you want my opinion, I see no real shine on this picture, but some nice natural highlights. Getting rid of them may take away from the striking depth of the shot. |
