Dear DPCers,

I know some of you are doing it but I don't know how.
Using multi-flash I want to mount my flash units on a couple of old tripods I have.
Trouble is, I cannot find any sensible solutions that aren't in the hundreds of dollars, pounds or euros.
Surely there must be some simple plastic things with a tripod screw thread one side and a standard hot shoe the other.

Any solutions you know of?

Thanks,
Glenn

the canon flashes come with a little plastic foot/stand. on the bottom is a threaded hole - the screw on the tripod should match the hole in the foot/stand....

so there is a cheap plastic thing that does what you are asking about ;)

Here's the cheapist solution I could find if you dont have the mini stand soup mentioned. Check the reviews for the actual appearance, the photo at the top of the page is wrong.

Nick,

This looks like just the ticket.
Well spotted.
I have Metz flashes and they are not so kind as to provide a table stand.
Thanks for the feedback.

I recently got this bracket from B&H, so I can attach an umbrella, as well:

the $100 impact kit from b&h is a good buy. sturdy stands, and umbrellas to boot.

I was going to suggest one of these as well. I got a couple of them laying around here that I found at a rummage sale a couple of years ago, I Wish I could find them because I have been wanting to try something with my speed lights. I am pretty sure my 3 yearold probably knows where they are but he ain't talkin.

They've usually got what the aspiring Strobist needs to get going.
