I was thinking it would be really cool to have a DPC App on my iPod to like check the scores of my photos and update me about new challenges. But, since I know nothing about developing, I thought I might just throw the idea out there and see if anyone else agrees.

Wouldn't that app be called Safari?

Sure, but wouldn't be nice to have a DPC widget of sorts. Just needs to show you current entry or entries, just like the left display on the site.

I think that would be awesome.

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me. I have been thinking about getting the development kit myself. I think it is $99 for the for the SDK.

I think that is right. Be sure to clear anything through Langdon, I think the Terms of Use mentions stuff like this.

Look at items 4.3 and 5.7 in the Terms of Use.

My Android phone seems to be able to access DPC fairly well, but a mobile version of the site would be pretty cool to have.

iphone Safari works pretty good for dpc, but an app that showed me the Score info from the left margin of the front page, and the "stats" panel from the left margin of my profile page would be sweet for quick checks.

Safari is fine for reading forum posts and such like that.

the iPhone Safari browser is good enough, and the display is superb--so I think even the "mobile phone voting restriction" could be lifted for it. Not that I would want to go thru 500+ Best Of images on the iphone, but for a smaller challenge, when I am on travel, it could be a nice way to kill gate time in the airport :-)

I think the iphone app should even be able to sync with your portfolio and have quick launches to your previous challenge entries, in addition to the update scores.

It would also need an alarm if your score drops by half a point in 24 hour period. Message should show score change and blink "Troll Alert!!!!"

I'd also like an app for the iPhone. I don't think that it would violate any terms of use, just make sure that everything was cleared through Langdon, of course. I'd like to see it similar to the Facebook app. You can find almost everything there, but it is a much more simple app than loading the entire site through Safari. I'd be willing to foot 4 or 5 dollars for it. I don't think that anyone here would argue that point. Now, who knows iPhone coding and had the free time to do it?

If you make one for that I-thing, then I want one for Android phones as well. (Wahhh!)

i think a mobile-friendly site layout might be just as good, and more universal as it would work for all mobile users.

I can create IPhone app for this if Langdon permits :)

It would be more an application and would reside along with your other apps rather then running it in safari. what do you say?

I agree! Just run it by Langdon first. I cannot imagine that he'd deny us. Can you have it ready by tomorrow?

Haha - You have everything it takes to be a Software Engineering Manager, Eric.

(If you asked for it to be done by yesterday, you could have been a "C-Level" Executive.)

As long as it's on the subject, I spotted this sign in Wally-world the other day.

I'm glad it's now available in wireless. The corded version was a real hassle.

I get my iPhone on Monday, so I'm really keen for a DPC app too. Hope you have some success :)
