I got one from DPC Prints from fatima mel.

It was mentioned earlier that DPC should not allow PMs for the first 30 days of membership. 10 Days would probably work as well. Or disable the PM feature on new accounts until the person enters a challenge or votes on a challenge or some other type of active participation on the site. Right now the door is wide open for this type of crap and once they find it they wont stop til you make it stop.

Wouldn't hurt for SC to highlight this thread with the Announcement Green so the Forums are not flooded with threads about this. Maybe adjust the title to be more specific. Even better Start a new thread explaining what is happening why it is happening and how everyone should deal with it.

Over the last couple of days, some users have experienced one or more e-mails from a scammer using the PM system to engage in communication. Langdon is working diligently to try to solve the problem permanently; however, there may be some that still slip through. If you receive a suspicious PM from a new user, please post the User ID/username to this thread and use Report Post to call it to our attention. SC will be monitoring this thread closely to thwart the scammer.

If you see a thread about this same problem, please direct the conversation here to this thread and use Report Post to call it to the SC's attention.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We hope it will be a short-lived problem.

how about implementing one of those deterrent tools used by certain websites - those "type in the letters you see below into the box" thingy each time someone use the send PM feature on DPC?

That would probably help stop the problem, but would suck for us.

i guess it WOULD suck if a genuine member sends out a lot of PMs in a day. because usually spammers use some sort of mass-posting software to send their junks, and a letter-verification system will stop that from working (a good one anyway)

Lol, they have visited my profile twice (assuming the 2 Cote d'Ivoire flags that just showed up this week are them) but have sent me nothing. Maybe I look poor. :p

After joynim's, now this: DPCPrints user aisha mel has sent you the following message:

"FROM MEL AISHA FATIMA
aishatu33@hotmail.com
DEAREST ONE,
I KNOW THAT MY MESSAGE WILL COME TO YOU AS A SURPRISE SINCE I DON'T KNOW YOU IN PERSON..."

Not to be a sourpuss, but why is this a warning?-- I think that dpc users are smart enuf not to fall for these scams..

This seems like a I got this email thread-- no one really is concerned that one of us really got tricked into something, and Im sure that the admins are on top of all these fake accounts-- I think warning is kinda funny-- sorry

Tis a Headline Grabber. It grabs your attention and it helps the SC and Langdon put a stop to this lowlife...because from what I have read the problem is growing. This person(s) have created multiple accounts to try to scam...the problem at this level is that it is of high annoyance. How many crud e-mails do you want to recieve - I for one don't want this junk.

BTW thank you SC and Langdon - I hope you can nip this in the bud permanently and soon.

I got one from aisha mel. It came as a DPCPrints Message.

I wonder if this is a hack into the accounts. I didnt read thru the thread but can one of the mods confirm whether our account info is safe please?

My email came from DPC Prints and the email that was a part of the message was from aishau33@hotmail.com

Rooster, what is the User ID?

It's not a hack into the accounts; it is a user who keep signing up under duplicate usernames.
