During 2008 we had some wonderful photographs entered into challenges. I was thinking it would be nice to be able to nominate a challenge entry from 2008 and recognize the photographer that took the photograph and award the photograph as being the "2008 Peoples Choice Photograph of the Year". If you would like to participate click the link below and nominate a photograph that you feel best deserves this award. The photograph with the most unique nominations will be announced on February 1st, 2009 as the "2008 Peoples Choice Photograph of the Year".

Nominate

NOTE: You can NOT nominate your own photographs. A time stamped automated spreadsheet will be available for verification on February 1st, 2009 for anyone that would like to view the nominations.

Scott

Cool, this does exclude the best of 2007 even though it was ran completely in 2008, yes?

May we nominate more than one entry?

eta: nevermind, just read the rules on the linked page :)

Only pictures taken and entered during 2008 apply.

You can only nominate one photograph.
You can only nominate that photograph one time.

When you click on the nomination link it will provide you with the rules so you can read them before entering your nomination. Don't worry, clicking on the link and viewing the rules will not prevent you from clicking on the link again and submitting your nomination.

Thanks

I know :)
That's why I set it up for a 21-day nomination period knowing some would have a hard time picking a favorite.

Did you get the conformation message after submitting your nomination? I just want to make sure it worked.

I did yes.

I was unsure about if I had to actually type in "Image_ID=" though, so I did with the number after the = sign.

Not sure if that's just me or if it needs to be clearer somehow?

You only need to put in the six-digit number. I have corrected your nomination by taking out the Image_ID= before the six-digit nominated photograph you entered.
Thanks

Enter the six-digit number after. …IMAGE_ID=

that's the part that confused me. lol.

Why does it have to be a challenge entry? Many outstanding images that deserve nomination came from the side challenges...

Hi Robert - Mainly for a couple of reasons. I thought about having it for any photograph but the problem with that is the owner of the image can take it down at anytime for any reason. Second, was due to rule sets. I thought it to be appropriate that images that conform to DPChallenge rules should be nominated. I'm not saying that all non challenge photographs do not adhere to the rule sets but some go beyond expert editing rules which is a trial rule.

That was my reasoning in only allowing challenge entries to be nominated.

Well, I understand that, but let me tell you MY thinking: There isn't a snowball's chance in hell of any non-challenge image "winning" the Picture-of-the-Year title. That's a given, I think. In fact, there aren't but a couple dozen images that have a real chance, I don't think. So the *real* prize here is to score a nomination; to have one, or a couple, people say your image is worthy of being considered the "Best of 2008" is a very nice thing. Within that framework, I don't personally see a problem with non-challenge images being available for nomination.

But it is what it is, you've set it up and you make the call :-) Thanks for doing this...

It doesn't send out a conformation email. You should see a window after you submit your nomination saying thanking you.

What's to stop people voting on behalf of other users here? Couldn't you just find old users who haven't been on for a while and use their names to vote? Not planning on doing it just curious ;-p
