I've only been around for a few weeks now (and I love it) but I have noticed an alarming trend. There are cats in every challenge. Not just one, sometimes three or four. No offense to all you feline fanatics out there, but I have yet to see a good picture of a cat. So I pose the question:

Are cats so evil that they can't be photgraphed well?

The cats were brought in to try to solve the frog problem...

I saw a great photo of a cat in the latest free study. Moved me enough to comment.

Sometimes we let our personal biases over-run. I know I do it too frequently for certain things.

You're going to notice a lot of 'alarming' trends here as you stay and vote and enter and get to know the place. Best to either skip them and move along, or try your very best to look at them from a different angle and appreciate them if you can.

Also, I have to agree with Achoo.

Which is a first, and frightens me.

My cats pose several problems....

1. They're quick. Need Really high shutter speeds.
2. They're black. Difficult expsoure to nail, especially considering how damn quick they are.
3. They're have no interest in anything I'm doing unless it involves food.

So to combat this I have tried 2 approaches. Shot them in window light at a high ISO. Used stuffed animal as stand in and lured cats with treats. Result - I have a really blurry shot of a leaping cat attacking the stuffed animal that he thought was going to eat his treat.

Second approach. Wait til they're sleepy and then set up my lights around them. Result - Caught the light as it was falling, still trying to drag cat out from under couch.

Will try when cats are the feline equivalents of octagenarians.

Oh, and as for evil?

It's not that cats are evil. They just know they're superior, and they don't mind flaunting it.

Mostly I'm just off work today and bored so I thought I'd stir up trouble. Care to post that pic from the FS? I'm so lazy I don't want to go look through 400 pictures for it.

Yah, I finally got the jist of your post after posting my post, so I followed it up a little. hehe.

The shot is jutilda's shot, which you can find by checking her latest entry on her profile. I don't feel like going through my comments to find it either. lol.

*EDIT* Oh heck, I was just reminded that I left TWO cat comments. ristyz also got one!

I like a good cat photo. Evil photos are the best.

Here are cat photos by various photographers which are in my Favourites (so far, more may be added at any time...):

ETA... My mother-in-laws cat (below) is VERY evil!

For the length of time I've been here, there have been many cat shots that I thought were "oh wow." Now if you don't care for cats, that might sway your opinion of the image, just like a cute child or baby would. Like any other subject, it is totally in the eye of the viewer. Granted, there are pourly done images of any and everything, but seeing no good cat shots? Look again. :~)

Not all cats have gone to the "dark side."
