Would love to organize an out&about!
Any Victoria BC takers?

Oh, jealous!!! One of my favorite places on the planet! Though no way I could possibly attend, I wish a good gathering to everyone who goes :-)

I hope I can get a few folks from Victoria Ladyhawk! I've scoured this site and it seems there is nobody here from Vic! Thanks for the support and if you ever get this way let me know coffee and a few snaps would be fun!

Ursula is from the area, although I know she isnt active here anymore. She is an amazing photographer and might be willing to go out and shoot with you. Might be worth a try.

With enough notice and the right timing my wife and I can go (we're in Seattle). But we'd be a slave to the Victoria express schedule...

Anytime you folks want to head this way, let me know! Not to worry if we have a gaggle of folks or not, I'm always up for meeting new people and taking shots.

Aha, so that's where the PM came from :) How's the snow on the island? Right now I think I'd love to get away from the snow, we've been just swamped in the Kootenays.

Depending on when you organize this for, I might be interested in coming.

Have you contacted ellamayand zeuszen? If they come, I'd love to come even more :)

****There you are Ursula! just like that! magic!

and wow! you all come together and I'll carry your equip! lol

Looks like there are a few more of us in Vic/from who are close-by but hiding-out in the reeds.

Lets just see if some more magic can happen. Wouldn't it be great!

Hmmm ... Victoria. We always love a trip to Victoria so depending when my wife and I may take the ferry up although this time of the year it would have to be the Canadian ferry from Tsawwassen as the Anacortes Ferry does not run in the winter (and looks like it may not at all soon because of budget cuts).

I'll keep an eye on this thread.

My mother and father-in-law has a B&B in Nanaimo (1.5 hr's north of Victoria). If anyone are traveling and need a place to stay I could arrange for a super deal.

depending on when (like late january) I might be in Victoria. Keep us posted as to your dates.

Becky-Lee and I are in Victoria :)

So is noisemaker, though he hasn't been too active this year, since he switched jobs.

(You should get ambitious here and plan something big and get Art Roflmao and the others up from Seattle too! I can say this because I'm not the one doing the planning :D )

Ummmmm....what exactly would this entail? What am I getting myself into!? lol
A three day weekend?
I host those who are on limited-budget? Not a problem.
(I can sleep three in my humble modest townhouse...one guest room with double-bed and one comfy-couch...enough floor space for 4 more!)
I have two cars so we can tout around 4 guests (one car only seats two) or I arrange for a van rental and we split that cost?
I host a welcome dinner in my home? Not a problem.
I arrange for a special guest to join us? Not a problem.
I arrange for a special showing at a local gallery? Not a problem.
I arrange reservations for (20?) at a fab local restaurant? Not a problem.
I arrange for special rates and reservations at a local 5 star hotel? Prefer a B&B? Can do that too. Not a problem.
I might even be able to pull off a 'special' movie showing that appeals to the picture-taking type at a local theater house.
Am I missing anything?

Well, how about a stretch limo to pick me up at my house and haul me up there? and have the driver stock the cooler with a 12 pack of your best Redhook. If it's not too much trouble, I mean. ;-)

Your new suggested username change: SusanSuddenlyArtsBestFriend. ;-)

I am not sure what my schedule will be like, but I will be watching this thread and if I can swing it, I will.

Definitely interested, but it'll depend on timing.

Ken - it's not a stretch limo... but we could swing by in this:

(even has a fridge, but it'll only hold 4 Redhooks. You'll have to hold the other 8.) ;OP

Woohoo! I'll just drink the other 8 before I get in!

Ok- let's keep tabs on this and hopefully we can make it work out.

Sounds like a plan.
Also sounds like SusanJonesOutOnTheCoastWhoLikesToPlanExtravagantGetTogethersAndOfferUpHerHouseToTotalStrangers might have some cool things in store for us. :O)

ETA: her cool little Santa hat (can't forget that).

HOWL!!!!!!!!
I've nothing to worry 'bout...entire family either RCMP/SecretService/LocalForce or someothersuch agency that you don't eff with.
lol

*straightens hat*

Seriously I would love to hang off the shoulders of folks who've been doing this longer than I, people I can learn and have fun with. There are a few folks from Victoria here, not many tho and I'm happy to help people out who would like to get here.

I like the idea of a get together, but animals and kids make distances a bit tricky.
When did you have in mind?
For how long?
Does it have to be in victoria? What about in vancouver or west coast?
Let us know roughly when and maybe.
12/28/2008 10:40:39 PM · #21
This sounds like it could be very fun!

I don't have a lot to offer unless it's at a time when I can pack the three guys off somewhere for a a few days. Then I'd have space AND a hot tub :D

But if it's going to be able to happen, I'll do what I can to contribute :)

Hi all,

Just checking to see if this is still in the works- I'd love to invite myself :) Hubby works for Holland America Cruise line and I've been to Victoria twice and Vancouver once in the last couple years. They are both beautiful places, and I could spend DAYS at Bouchard Gardens (sp?).

With some reasonable time, I'd be in. Just moved to the Island but all I can say is that it is magical. Lemme know when and I'll come out and annoy all of you!! ;-)

I'm in the Comox Valley. You're right though, this time of year is sorta goofy. Maybe early March or so?
