It's still the Eve here, but it's family tradition to do one gift on Eve and the rest on Christmas. But of my one gift, I got a Nikon MC-36 remote shutter release, and I'm pumped!

No longer do I have tie a USB cord around my shutter release and jam the end into the shutter to keep it held down during Bulb mode, like I did for 10 minutes for this image:

Flickr link!

Now I can just dial it in to the MC-36, press a button, and walk away knowing the cord won't accidentally slip out of the shutter and cancel the whole thing 45 seconds into a 10 minute exposure! Woo! My mom thinks it'll be great for taking family photos, but luckily for me the cord's not long enough for that >:]

It's been suggested there may be more camera gear tomorrow, too, so I'm excited to see what (if anything) it is!

Sniff... Christmas morn here and no sign that Santa came by at all. No Lensbaby under my non-existant existent tree. Think that was the problem? No tree?

Sniff.... (And is it existent or existant, or are they two different things? I think I need coffee...)

I bought myself a tripod. :-) Does that count?
12/25/2008 03:44:32 AM · #14
And I'm pretty sure it's existent --- although coffee is always a good plan.

No gear coming this year. No company either. Family in MI either cannot afford to fly here, or those who can won't. :( Mom mailed me a pair of slipper socks and some cash (not enough for any gear though). My Aunt sent a small check too. Nothing from my daughter (she's broke), and my sis got me a years subscription to Reader's Digest (sure wish it were a Photoshop mag subscription instead....but the thought was nice)

Just me and the doggies today

Me and the cats here, Linda. And my Dad is bummed because the box he sent didn't arrive yet - says it's pointless for it to come after Christmas, that I'll just have to save it for next year. Mom sent some Starbucks Christmas blend (bless her heart!), a warm down-kinda vest thingie, and a scented oil/stick thing that smells cinnamony. It'll be a nice quiet kinda day here. I'm good with that.

Nice new toy, Ken! And I made cinnamon rolls to go with my coffee. :-)

Update - my neighbors just came by with cookies and a German teddy bear! Too cool! (I bought them an inexpensive digital camera they're having fun learning to use.)

Had a very quiet day spent mostly with sister-in-law. No camera gear, we don't really do presents ...... just get gifts for the animals. So, Bailey's got a plentiful supply of treats which she's very very very happy about. I met up with Casey, new puppy of a friend of ours. He got her last Thursday. She was a bit intimidated at first, then once she'd realised they were ok she had fun!!!

It is 3 a.m. here, not sure why I can't sleep... :( To my knowledge, no camera gear under the tree but there will be two hyper boys in about 3 hours. And one tired mom and dad!

I'll take a virtual cinnamon roll please! ;)

As my wife tells me when I have the same problem "It might help if you turn the laptop off and close your eyes!" :)
But seriously - I feel for you man... have to small guys myself and lack of sleep is a terrible thing since you just don't have a choice to sleep inn when they wake up early in the a.m.

No camera gear for me BUT.... I did get to do all the cooking, cleaning and drink all the wine.

I got an iPod touch that will help with my photography a lot, I can now spy on DPC anywhere.

MERRY HAPPY XMAS TO YOU ALL.

xxx

haha. She's the light sleeper in our house but I think she is sound asleep. I'll definitely need the cucumber eye treatment to chase the dark circles away!
