My Lord, this kind of score and not a single comment????????

Probably getting dinged cause there are no circles of light in the background or something like that.

And people were blaming DPC-O for causing the low scores... I hope those that have high scores just aren't posting them.

Meanwhile, how about another beer...

I find this so discouraging, every time I feel that it might be somewhat worthy I get a lower score than I guessed. In fact, I am starting to get a little pissy, since my score is upper 3's and only one comment. It does have "bokeh", may not have the most or the best, but certainly better than a 3.9! Oh, of course if that is going to be my resulting score, I will be upset. It will be my lowest score and it has something to do with the category. It may not be my best either, and defiantly shouldn't be my worst! [/rant]

so, my looooooooooooow scoring image has a validation request. Since this is my first one, just a quick question: I submitted the original, etc., and now the update shows "being reviewed...pending..." and such. When I submitted the original, the notes said that I would be notified via PM if I got a DQ.

So, when the SC validates my image, will I be getting any notification before the vote rollover? Will the update window change before rollover, etc. or do I need to wait until rollover to find out for sure what was decided. I didn't violate any basic editing rules, so I am confident in the validation, just wondering if I will know as soon as they complete their review, or will it only be an after-rollover sorta thing?

Anyone here been Validated Upon before? :-)

When it is validated you will receive a Validation notice. And your red message on your front page will show the validation. They aim to have the validations done within 48 hours.....but don't panic if it takes much longer.

I know. It is an absolutely horrible feeling waiting for validation...no matter how confident you are. When they take longer and you find out the images have gone to vote on SC....you really start to get quite agitated. So, you have now officially joined the Validation club.

Well, as long as a SC member doesn't show up at my door, dope-slap the few remaining hairs off my head, and say in their best SoupNazi voice "NO SCORE for YOU!" I guess it should be okay......

LOL!! Personally, I feel, if a photographer has to supply their original image and ALL editing steps, then they should be at least told (even after validation/DQ is supplied) why their image was requested....the reason for the questioning of their image. Photographers generally never supply their originals and all editing steps to others...so I feel that the photographers deserves to be told what is causing question on their image. I feel this could be a valuable learning tool so even if the image is validated, it may be an area that needs to be watched by that photographer in future....as it may even have been a borderline editing on their image.

To be told...give us your original and editing steps and then get an either validation or dq but to not be told why your image was wanted in the first place seems a little one sided to me.

Please note..I am only referring to the validation requests on images that don't make the top 5 or are called up during the challenge.

Just my opinion.

Sorry for sidetracking the thread. Back to the scores.

Just got the "Your image has been Validated" I submitted the original about 4 hours ago! Not too shabby. You are right, though, Judi, I am very curious as to the reason for the request. :-)

Ah, To Be Validated!! Now the suckage that is my score will be there for all to see---er, uh, gee, a DQ might have left the score to the imagination....

Wow...that's great. That's the quickest validation I have heard of...congrats.

Could it be the scores are crap and the comments are minimal due to all the hoo-hah created on the topic of what is Bokeh? Most people are probably too scared to comment for fear of saying the wrong thing, and getting flamed by all the others. Me included! I am just voting on how the picture and appearance appeals to me, forget all the technical mumbo jumbo.

Well, as for my entry, I suspect it is simply because my image is Barely Bokeh--technically it has bokeh features, and the bokeh features form a significant part of the composition itself, but there is nothing about the image that shouts bokeh-was-used-here or anything. Not to mention that there are some truly great shots in this challenge: I gave 8 nines, 5 eights, 19 sevens, 14 sixes so far...

I might not have even entered the challenge--my brand spankin new 50mm 1.4 had just arrived on the last day, which got me thinking about entering--but no time to shoot with it. I recalled an image from Saturday that "qualifies" as bokeh if one really gets creative with the interpretation. Since I had already given myself the itch to enter, I went for it.

I am not all about the scores, anyway, but I sure do have fun watching them go wherever they go when I do enter :-)

And, this pizza is delicious!!

And And AND to dine with such great folks here is a blast, too.

Are you SURE you wouldn't like that? I think they do that post-validation ;-)
