Hi Guys!
Seems I'm in a bind here, and no easy way to get out of it. My dad is a fantastic cook, especially in cast iron, and what he wants for the holidays more than anything is a Lodge, cast iron bread pan to make his sourdough loaves in. See this Link. Only problem is, the only way to get them is pure luck, ebay for more than it's worth, or by going to a factory outlet store. There's stores here:
Lodge Factory Store, South Pittsburg, TN
503 South Cedar Avenue
South Pittsburg, TN 37380
423-837-5919

Lodge Factory Store, Sevierville, TN
105 Knife Works Lane Suite 2
Sevierville, TN 37876
865-429-1713

Lodge Factory Store, Commerce, GA (this is the store reputed to have them more often than not)
165 Pottery Factory Drive
Commerce, GA 30529
706-335-4875

Lodge Factory Store Myrtle Beach
100 Legends Drive
Suite C
Myrtle Beach, SC 29579
843-236-7849

Of course I live in WI. So what I'm asking (begging really) is for someone to go shopping for me, and ship me 2 of these magical pans. I can pay you by Paypal, for the bread pan and all the shipping costs, and would be forever grateful to anyone! Please?

I believe they go for roughly $15 each at the store. I found one on ebay that was still going, would cost me $60 to get the one shipped here. Hoping to do a little better than this! Thanks for the link too :)

Bass Pro Shops sell Lodge Cast Iron stuff...might look and see if there is one close to you and just call them. They may ship directly to you if they sell this item. Just a thought!

If you call the stores, surely they'd ship what they have?

(Psst - the South Pittsburg store isn't far from me, and I'm down there every couple of months...)

Let me know if there's something I can do to help.

Lets see going on ebay for $50- Canon 5D Mark II @ $2,699 lets see 2699/35=77 loaf pans. (plus I'll make a little on "handling charges" so I can make up for my UPS fees getting them here).

Well, I am off to order 150 loaf pans (gotta have lenses too you know) :)

awwwwww - you're welcome Krystle!

this made me think very much of our oldest daughter (also a redhead), who helps me in the kitchen too :)

enjoy the time with your dad... and let us know how the bread turns out!

((hehe - my wife says "better yet, how 'bout sending us a loaf of bread?!")) KIDDING!

Glad to hear you found one. I am going thru Commerce, GA on my way to Tampa, FL on the 20th (this Saturday) and was going to offer to stop and see if they had one. :)

Krystle, another thought about Cast Iron.

Yes, I think your dad is on the right track. And if you follow in his footsteps, you will be too.

Want to go Green? Use cast iron cookware.

I use cast iron skillets and a Dutch oven that are well over 75 and probably more years old because they were in my husband's family. Sure, I digressed into the latest in ‘aluminum ware’ and ‘no-stick cookware’ and all that, but one day – I probably heard something unfavorable about the newer products - I hauled out my antique cast iron utensils and WOW am I ever glad I did.

Some small care in the beginning is needed. Like cleaning them well and then oiling them, heating them and oiling again. NEVER using soap on them. Oiling after each use. It’s called seasoning, and it’s safe. The Internet probably has good instructions on this.

It's hard to explain (without writing a cookbook) but you just get better results with cast iron.

So pat your dad on the back, and if you want to go Green, join him.

I just want to say a hearty THANK YOU for all the Lodge bread pan info. My dad was looking for the Lodge Cast Iron bread pans. I had placed an order for two pans from Amazon for $34.00 apiece. Then I saw your blogs and called the TN Outlet store. I ordered 3 pans, including shipping, and it was $20.00 less than for the 2 pans from Amazon. I immediately cancelled the Amazon order!
Thank you!
Aloha
Christine
