I am going to be in Pittsburgh for a few days. I might have some time for sightseeing and picture taking. Any suggestions from locals. I will be there starting tomorrow (Wednesday, December 10th).

I would have tried to organize a GTG but I may only be there a day or two, or I might be there over the weekend. I can't tell.

If anyone has an ideas, or wants to try to meet up, please reply or pm me.

Weather permitting, I would love to get together and go shooting with ya! I will be around Thursday and Friday afternoons, so if you want to go to one of the parks in the area, that would be great. Especially since I haven't gotten a chance to get to one yet, but I have heard they are really nice and I know there are waterfalls at some of them... a little research on my part would quickly figure out which ones...

Anyways, let me know if that sounds good, and from the looks of it on the forum here, we should be able to get at least another person from around here to join us for an afternoon shoot!

I'd love to. Oh, wait...

Tony, check out my Top 20 or so for some local attractions. We have some world class architecture here, but tomorrow looks like clouds and rain all day. It should be relatively warm though. My workplace, PPG Place, is off limits to photographers. My advice? Shoot it anyway. The guards are idiots and a threat to no one.

As for sightseeing (with or without a camera), if you're downtown, Mt. Washington is a must. South Side and North Side (especially the Mexican War Streets) are also very scenic. Perhaps what surprises most first time tourists is the terrain -- hills and bridges and tunnels and sidewalks with stairs. Some of these heights also offer impressive vantage points for photography. Sewickley is a small village on the shores of the Ohio River that might be of interest. It has beautiful old homes and a town center right out of a storybook. And it should be lit up for Christmas now.

My schedule is booked tomorrow and Thursday, but let me know if you're downtown. I can always sneak out to the Starbucks in Market Square.

I could come out there on Wednesday, but I think it's supposed to rain a good portion of the day. I have Friday off, so depending on the weather, I could probably make it over there on that day. Ever since the leaves dropped off of the trees, I haven't had any urge to do any photography. I need an excuse to get the camera out.

My mom is in the hospital there and is getting out on Thursday, so I will be driving her back to Northeastern PA Thursday afternoon. It's all good now! We were really scared and were told her recovery would be 12 to 14 days and she is strong enough to come home after only 6 days. We are very happy.

So, that really only leaves Wednesday late afternoon and evening. I can't even leave here until 8:30am and it's a 4.5 hour drive so I won't get there until about 1pm......

If you pm me, I will get you my cell phone # and/or you can give me yours. I could call and see if anyone is around Wednesday evening.

Anyone know of a good wing place?

I know THE BEST wing place, if you didn't mind heading 20 minutes out of the city :) Wings Suds and Spuds has the best wings in the history of wings. They're near the airport. I'd be available around 3:45 if you were interested in that spot. I have a couple commitments at odd times during the evening that will kinda mess anything else up for me. I wouldn't have a whole lot of time to be wandering around with the camera, but I'd enjoy getting together for an early bite.

BINGO. I'll take an order of extra hot, blue cheese and celery please! I have a GPS so if it's 8806 University Blvd, Coraopolis, PA, 15108, then I will be there! Google is amazing.

3:45 is never too early for wings. I will be available at that time.

Remeber the brownies! (Just kidding) Maybe Scalvert could fly in with some doughnuts.

Awesome -- I'll look forward to seeing you tomorrow, then! (Of course I would assume that anyone else who wants to jump in should be welcome to do so!) I imagine your address is right on the money -- it's definitely on University Boulevard. Watch for a red sign along the road -- it's fairly easy to miss. Since you have a GPS, the exact coordinates are: N40 30.331 W80 13.422 -- I have that as a permanent waypoint in my GPS :)

Of course, everyone is welcome, if the have a D300! What's the seating capacity of the place? I would suggest we do not post this on Craig's list.

Yes. Anyone would be welcome.
