Its just sad.

I just saw on CNN that there were multiple blasts in Mumbai (India).. two of the sites being luxury hotels. Some people are still being held hostage.

I wish there was a way to cleanly uproot such radical thinkers. I hate the way of thinking that makes you kill other people.

I hate the fundamentalists that disrespect human life.

ETA: corrected an unclear opinion.

I hear ya and I'm with ya, but not all "fundamentalists" disrespect human life. It's actually very common to be a fundamentalist name-your-creed-here and be a highly moral human. An obvious case in point, I can say from personal experience, would be Orthodox Jews, of whom I have known many and of whom not a one was other than a compassionate, caring human being. And nevertheless, there are some radical orthodox Jews, I believe, in Israel who are actively involved in what many would call terrorism against the Palestinians.

So I don't "hate fundamentalists"; I hate terrorists, including our own, home-grown, government sponsored terrorists in America. And anyone who doesn't think we have 'em, or have had 'em, is hopelessly naive.

I'm with you, Prash. Join me and my group of anti-fundamentalists as we blow them, and anyone who looks like one or talks like one to smithereens and burn their villages.

They're not 'thinkers' - Someone else has done the thinking for them.

I have a feeling this is just round one. Going by the past history there will probably be more attacks of this nature in the near future. They usually happen in 3's

Kinda... I'd say they think that god is thinking for them.

It's time to implement MUTUAL ASSURED RETALIATION. We should find out where each of the suicide shooters/bombers come from and just level their villages and towns taking all of their relatives, friends and neighbors out as well. Some would say thats not fair, but next time someone is living next door to Ahmad who they know is planning some sort of attack, they will step up and do what they have to do to stop it, because Ahmad is going to get them killed.

This would work in the same way that Mutual Assured Destruction kept the US and USSR from engaging in nuclear war for 45 years.

The Israelis have already tried that, leveling the houses of suicide bombers, and it didn't work for them. The only thing that worked to a degree was the security fence and keeping Gaza under siege. Besides, your suggestion is more commonly known as genocide.

The situation in Mumbai is on-going, there are reports of more hostages being taken in the financial district.

This Israelis evacuate the house and knock it down - big deal

I am advocating leveling the entire village and killing all the people in it. Much more effective.

How about leveling all the madrasah, seminaries, mosques, churches and synagogues. Disband religious hierarchy and eliminate all forms of religious teaching. In other words, stop filling an entire generation's minds with nonsense.

Katherine,

I grew up in India. A sizeable minority population there is muslim (actually if I am not wrong, there are more practicing muslims in India than in the neighboring muslim state Pakistan). And India being a secular state, by constitution honors any and all religions one wants to practice.

I can tell you this much: the extremism I saw in some of those people is beyond any logical or sane comprehension. Not all of them lean to the extreme, but the ones they do, are dangerous enough to cause damage like what happened in Mumbai today.

It is not a tangible enemey. How many such extremists can we erase? Its the extremism thats the problem. And it proves to be immortal time and again.

ETA: spell check.

Or how about just flooding them with public internet access and science teaching/resources. Knowledge is the best weapon in the infidel's arsenal.

violence as a counter-attack will only invite more violence.
i say, give them unconditional love, they might just throw up in disgust and stop bothering us.

And presumably you would accept the counterproposition that they be entitled to level any village, town, or city within the US from which they perceive a terrorist to have emanated?

Or are you talking about MutuallyAssured Retalation for them? Or to put it another way, tyranny.

Nice way to start the Holiday Season. Tis the season to blow innocent people up, fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-BOOM!

This is probably way out in left field, but I wonder if this is retaliation for India's aggressive stance Re Somali Pirates. Does anyone know if India is playing a role in Afghanistan? Or could it but an internal Muslim / Hindu issue?

I know I should tempt fate like this, but I still can't believe Canada hasn't been the victim of a similar terrorist attack...
