Okay well I am just so excited I thought I would post it up and see what I get out of it.

I got a phone call around 3:30pm today from a guy that runs a magazine for high schools in Georgia. The magazine is called "In the game". It's all about the high school sports and they asked me to shoot the cover of the magazines for the next 11 months.

From the deal I am getting a 1 full page ad in the magazine ($900 value) for my business, tickets to games of my choice, visual credit for all the photographs taken, and an ad to my website from theirs.

I just met with the guy and our first shoot starts this Thursday at Shaw High School.

Congratulations! That is awesome. It is so nice to see when people from this site get paid for their photography. Reminds me of Joey Lawerence. It is truly amazing how well he is doing.

Congrats again dirt diver.

Congrats Joe, that's awesome ... I'm sure you'll do such a great job that they'll extend your contract for the next year also!!! Hopefully you'll get a LOT of business from the advertising also ... make sure and post links to the cover each month ...

I saw the title and had visions of Michael Douglas and Sean Penn.
Good for you! That's even better for getting your name and work out there than even the money and tickets you get for it. Now maybe it's time to trade in your Mattel Barbie camera, though it is statistically one of the highest scoring cameras on the site. ;-)

My first GTG is this Thursday so as soon as I get back I will edit and post some of the shots from it. I need to come up with some ideas for the sessions and I need to come up with a full page ad.

I don't know which is going to be harder the ad or the actual sessions. The other down side of it all is it's just going to be me on the sports shoots so no one to help hold reflectors or diffusers. No one to help with carrying equipment or anything, ughhhh....

I'm also worried that I won't be able to get a good shot with the glass I have. The editor is looking for some really good DOF shots, Now I can acheive this with zoom but I can only stop my glass to 3.5. Oh well I guess I'll figure it out.

I'm sure you'll do fine ... if the shot doesn't come out shallow enough then just do some PS work to get it where you want it to be! Can't wait to see what you come up with for an ad also ...

Well the downside to all everything is this...

They want the raw images so they can do all the editing, however they said I could edit the photo and send that along with the original.

What I don't like is the fact that they want the original. I have my own style of editing and I like to push out images that are edited but the images that were shown to me look like they haven't been edited at all, and frankly they look like crap.

well ... that just means that you need to send them a few edits to choose from ... hopefully you'll convince them that they need to use one of your edits instead of doing their own ... I would suggest that you do one in 'your' style, then do one that's totally different and one that looks like it wasn't edited much at all ...
