Ye Worthy, Ye Masters, Ye Geniuses of Genre, Ye of the Canny Candids, the Living Landscapes, Ye Avatars of the Abstract, Come Forth and Showeth Thy Stuff.

.

If one or more of your photos have been nominated or awarded on the Posthumous Ribbons Thread* you are invited to post ONE picture to this thread in the month of November. Every picture will get a comment from me. At the end of the month, I will pick three ribbon winners.

For all you other ribbongivers, you may also award ribbons IF you promise to comment on all photos submitted (as long as the photo has an easy way to comment without having to register on another site).

* Eligible contestants can be on either the new posthumous ribbons thread or the original thread. If you are nominated at any time in the month of November, you are eligible, as long as you can post a photo here by the end of the month. Also, please make it a new photo and not a challenge photo.

EDITING RULES: No editing rules apply except that it be a completely original work made by you this month. Please talk about your steps in the comments (just because it's fun and I'm going to the trouble to comment on your photo, too).

SIZE RESTRICTIONS: just be considerate of people's monitors. Mine can fit about 720kb high and 900 or so wide. Only post thumbnails and links in this thread, not full-size pictures!

ooh Are you gonna have a super spectacular special ribbon for this challenge? I want to add to my collection and I think I might just have one that will win one. I'm a Posthumous Ribbon Hog :P

(edit: ahh darn the one I am thinking of is going into a challenge)

Sniff. I have never received a Posthumous Ribbon. I think I shall go sit in a corner and cry now. Really.

YAY how cool! I'm in for that one! I think i'll be busy all day long this month shooting for all the masters and loosers challenges rather than attending school...LOL

Once I give you a ribbon I'll have done everything I can do for dpchallenge and I'll finally be able to retire.

I prefer chocolate.

No posthumous ribbon here either.

However, I'll pledge a Free Study Experiment style comment to each of the ribbon winners, and 5 other random photos posted in this thread during the run.

Oh. Chocolate. Don, I visited a large department store in Frankfurt last weekend and you'd have had seizures. There are miles and miles of nothing but chocolate. As far as the eye can see. Truly overwhelming. I bought one small bar of 70%.

And I have yet to do anything worthy of your ribbon. There may come a day. There may not. It will definitely not be in the mirrors challenge, that's for sure.

never been worthy enough:(

I am the second entrant in the invitational challenge. I'm hoping it is my chance to finally pick up a brown and with an image I really like, too.

You're both kidding yourselves. Just bad luck and bad timing. It's all in the timing.

I read this while eating rice cakes. Sigh...

Can the nomination be received from anyone on the thread? If so, I'm eligible as of a few minutes ago.
11/03/2008 01:27:18 PM · #23
can't believe my luck/misfortune: I qualified to play in both masters cups, and yet I may have nothing to show for it :). Have tons of interesting stuff from a China trip in October, but did not plan to do much photography in November... oh well.

Just checking: even if we haven't been accepted into the posthumous nobility, but have been dubbed or nominated by an alternate order, we can enter in this hopefully stunning and outrageous challenge?

I can try to help by reviling my friend cutout system
get a cheap camera
have a few shots of vodka
leave it in a place full of dust (a carpenter shop or such) for a few weeks
have a few shots of vodka
when you go out shooting, shot in any direction, in low shutter speed while moving the camera (it creates a natural blur)
you can use expensive filters like broken glass covered in dust or put a candle under the glass and turn it black (kind of a polarizing filter)
have a few shots of vodka
load the pictures to your computer and use Picasa for the editing (that's the secrete of success)
now comes the difficult part - you have to get creative.
(a few shots of vodka help)
