LED monitor...sounds awesome but would like to see it in person. Pretty cool with all the other advantages.

I've been drooling over the entire Apple website for months now - but I'm a (very) poor student at the moment, so it's really frustrating, I WANT A MACBOOK RIGHT NOW!

A Macbook in the UK, with my student discount is still £850

Imac is about £800

That's about 6 Christmas combined!

Yep, drooling but also fed up. I went to look at it in the Apple store this evening. Very nice, but totally incompatible with my macbook pro, which is only 3 months old. Grrr.

Wow, that's not good! Why isn't it compatible?

the new screen needs some kind of mini dvi cable (I think that's the correct terminology) and the older macbook and macbook cannot use those cables. Bit of a shame, the screens are very nice.

Yeah, Apple changed the connection on the new macbooks and macbook pros, so the display uses the new connection and is incompatible with the old ones, so you need an adapter... what a shame.

Also, anyone else have a problem with the new macbook pro?! I can't believe they got rid of the mouse button and it is all a tracking pad!

I hope my MBPro lasts really long, because I don't want to have to get a computer without a separate mouse button.

In regards to compatibility, as it stands right now the display will not work right now. However, it is possible, and entirely probable that apple can produce a DVI (What older MacBook Pros use)-to-Mini DisplayPort which is the new standard.

To my relatively limited understanding, DisplayPort is a newly areed upon higher-tech connection that will become increasingly common in time, however, it may be the case that the mini DisplayPort is an apple exclusive, meaning you will probably have to by the special adapted from Apple.
