I've basically given up on reorganizing my schedule so that I can get out and take more photos so have decided to try and work on portrait skills at home. Have to rely on a single daylight bulb and flash for now though, bit low on cash for a full set-up. Anyway this is probably a dumb question but I'm having trouble working out how to get a wireless flash connection using my D80 as the command unit and one single SB600 as the slave. Sure it's simple but between two sets of instructions, Japanese and English, just can't seem to get it working.

I think the problem is more to do with my understanding of the flash than the camera. Any pointers would be really appreciated.

In his instructions for the camera setup it says to select menu, go to pencil then scroll down to #22 --see below...

The camera set up:
1. press the menu button
2. go down to the pencil
3. go down to #22 which is Built-in flash
4. press ok
5. go down to commander mode
6. press ok
7. Make sure that group A has a Mode of TTL
8. make sure to press OK or it will not save

....on my D80 it only goes to #10!?!?! How do I get down to #22 so I can get to the Built-in flash settings?

It sounds like you are on auto mode. You need to be on P, A or S.

It sounds like you are still using the "simple" menu option on the D80, I'm pretty sure I needed to change my menu settings to "full" before I could access certain features, I can't remember if accessing the flash modes was one of these.

Yep, I had to change the menu from "simple" to "full". Thanks for the help!
