With my Overexposed entry heading for a personal low I'm hoping my Shallow DOF entry will be a personal best, just took a shot I think is my best yet and can't wait to see how it does.

Thank god I purchased the Nikon 50mm f1.8 a couple of weeks ago, I was waiting for an entry where I could use it :)

Anyone else looking forward to next weeks challenge(s) to start voting?

All I can say is...good night, game over, drive home safely. :)

I hope to bust into my Top 10, which I haven't done in a while.

I'm looking forward to next weeks voting but probably not for the same reason (although I do have what I consider to be 2 of my best shots to date to enter).

The main reason I want this weeks voting over with is because they have been so damn stressful LOL, my Doll Entry has gone from 5.2x -> 5.69 -> 5.01 -> 5.3x My FS has gone from 5.4 after 25 votes -> 4.9x -> 5.1 (I really hoped for high 5s or maybe push a low 6 with this shot - the only good thing to come from this entry is 1 comment that identifies the problem and the most likely cause of low votes (I had never seen this as a problem before and it was a part of my shooting style, but now I analyse it I can see it as something I will want to change - it's quite possibly affected my Doll entry score too).

Good luck in the coming week, nothing worse than seeing a picture you believe to be among your best work not doing well so lets hope for both our sakes this isn't the case :)

I am a bit new and want to make sure that I meet the challenge requirements for the Shallow DOF Challenge. It states that shallow depth of field is usually used to make an object stand out, and to find an interesting shallow depth of field photo. Does this mean that we need to find another way to use shallow depth of field to our advantage? Or am I reading too much into the challenge statement?

go with what moves you, there will always be someone who thinks you should interpret it the way they did....shallow dof leaves for a lot of choices

Thanks for the help. Looking at past challenges really did the trick.
