Hi there, as discussed in the suggestion forum... we were hoping to find a way to talk to people who live in our geographical areas. Either to meet up and do photo projects together or discuss events and weather in the area (and how it will affect our photography). This is the California forum! I encourage you to start one for your state in the General Discussion Thread.

1st Post - My name is Arielle and I live in Los Angeles. I would love to talk to other Angelenos about photography and what's going on in LA. I am sick of this drab weather! I want bright blue skies already!!!

Hi...I'm Jason from the East county - San Diego area. The blue skies have just peeked through the clouds down here. What area of LA do you live in? I used to hail from the Valley and also from San Pedro...

I live in Downtown LA (Chinatown actually). I work in Pasadena. It's been grey and white all day, no blue in sight. Why'd you leave LA for San Diego? I do love San Diego... just wondering though :)

many reasons... started with school (SDSU), and after leaving for awhile, I'm back here again :) San Diego is a great place to take pictures :)

Hmmm, California. We're a big state. Maybe we need a Northern, Central and Southern California contingent. By my signature, I'm obviously a Northern California type located firmly in San Francisco. Most of San Francisco this afternoon is in fog. Five miles north in Marin County (the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge) it's sunny & warm.

San Francisco is my favorite city in the US (so far). I haven't been there in years, but even the fog is pretty there. It's been foggy here in LA too! It is a large state, but I wanted to start general just incase there weren't too many active posters from Cali :)

I live in the San Fernando Valley, Winnetka to be exact. I agree with Arielle, I think it would be fun to talk or even meet with other DPC'ers. Maybe meet once a month at different locations and shoot pictures. What do you think?

Daly City.. just south of San Francisco. About three blocks south of San Francisco actually.

Speaking of the river, when I was younger we used to take an annual trip down the river. We'd start at the base of the dam and canoe down sometimes as far as Havasu. Great fun and lots of interesting memories.

Funny that someone started this thread. A fellow dpc'er, rasai, and I were just talking yesterday about suggesting a gathering of local members to meet and greet and perhaps shoot common subjects.
He's in North Marin & I live in Sonoma County.

San Francisco Area people.

About an hour north of S.F.: Point Reyes Seashore right now, is ablaze with wildflowers. Out on Pierce Point Road at Abbotts Lagoon parking lot are the yellows, including two-toned poppies, and further out at the Elk compound are freshly blooming wild iris.

About an hour south of S.F.: Santa Cruz. UC Santa Cruz arboretum has Australian and South African flowers in bloom now while at Steamer Lane (at the Lighthouse) it's easy to photograph the guys & gals surfing. There's also the boardwalk, but not the amusement park as the dragon lady who runs the place won't let tripods onto the premises. Then of course there's Felton with the steam train. But enough!

Terry G. PM me if you'd like, and perhaps we can arrange some shooting time. I'll happily take you around to some of my favorite places.
