Team Canada or are you holding out for a team that might do better? ;o)

He's not a free agent he's CANADIAN and I'll talk to him later tonight and set him straight as to his country loyalties and if that doesn't work I'll throw him in the lake when we get together this weekend.

So put Scott down for CANADA.

MAX!

That makes 8.

When the other thread starts, if any more Canadians want to play, we could get another team going. (If we're doing the country thing again)

If it were to happen it would have to happen for everyone on DPC. I can't see an easy way for D&L to only give them to DPCO players.

Team Canada, don't forget to post in the "DPCO-III Sign Up Roster" thread on Wednesday. You're on your own to get on a team. So, the team may not look like it does in earlier posts here.

Thanks cpanaioti. On Wednesday at what time?

Im not sure how the new scoring is going to be run but if it is based on the average of the individual over the last 10 challenges entered then we will be at the back of the line, Bruski, for all his efforts will now have to score over a 6.5 to make any points for Poland, Techo will need to do the same as will a lot of our team simply because we ALL made the effort last time and scored well. This system looks as if it will only punish people for trying. Although I agree the scoring needs to be set up differently I do not think this will be fair at all and may well consider pulling the Polish team out if this becomes the RULE.

I thought the idea of scoring it from
1st-10 points
2nd-9 points

etc etc was a far better plan than some average business... I may be a bit premature here but as it looks right now this is not going to be a fair system and will only benefit people with a low average.

for example. What if I made a team of people that have just joined DPC and have only entered 2 or 3 challenges, then what? they get a string of 00's to make their average very low indeed then they produce ribbon winning shots every week and we walk home again... I know that is a bit exagerated but you get my point.

We are thinking and waiting to see what/how this developes first. I hope we can find a decent way of doing this because it will be a shame to ruin such a good thing (not because we won but simply because of the competition factor) I also feel strongly about the fact that all the teams but us failed to get a submission every week from their members. THAT is why most teams bombed because after 1 week they gave up and could not be assed to enter and let the rest of the team down, and this is AFTER they made a big scream ME ME ME ME ME when it was being set up.. go have a look for yourself, some people who were all keen and eager didnt even submit a single shot.... go figure.

For now I remain sat on the fence and will see how this developes before I personally make any decision for Polska, then, of cause, it is up to them as individuals to take the path they see fit to take.

ETA - Maybe if we set a rule that any team member who does not submit will give the team a penalty big enough to ruin their chances of getting any points that week, MAY be enough to make team members make the damn effort!

I haven't participated in any of these side challenges, leagues, or other such tournaments since I've joined this site. My personal gut feeling is that - 1. This tournament is merely virtual, 2. No money is being collected and then being awarded to the winners, 3. It's just for fun, right? If you take into consideration that there will be stacked teams of pros, the weaker teams and ones that are comprised of free agents are at a severe disadvantage right out of the gate if the point scoring is based solely on the highest scores. I believe that all of the teams will have much more fun if the point scoring is similar to the above average tourney. This will encourage all levels of shooters to submit their best. The weaker teams won't become discouraged after only a few weeks knowing that they will never reach the "podium." Some may feel that if they are a 5.0 shooter, how are they ever going to shoot that 7 in just a couple months' time, unlike the pro teams?

MAK mentioned that some have 6.5 averages and that it would be very difficult to beat that on a consistent basis. Here again, if this tourney is team based, I agree that the point scoring would work well on a +-+-+-+- basis. If Bruski scores a 6.30 and Techno scores a 7.20 and everyone else breaks even, then they would end up with a +.50. This type of scoring is going to cut both ways on all teams. But if this tourney is all about having some fun and giving everyone a chance to be on a winning team, then there should be no qualms about doing something similar to this. But if your idea of fun is running everyone over with a stacked team, then so be it. If we were playing for money or major fame(such as the winners being listed in PopPhoto), then yes, I wouldn't argue.

I say give everyone a chance.

Do you honestly think we have a STACKED team? That is a joke. There are not that many POLISH members so it's not like I can pick and choose now can I?

Sorry if my comment seemed to exclusively hold your team up on a mantle, but that really wasn't the case. It's just that you were the last to respond to the thread and you mentioned a couple specific high average scorers. The teams I did have in mind were mainly comprised from Iceland (and two others whose names escape me at the moment) where their members consistently blow everyone away, overall. I should have used YOUR instead of your - meaning, YOUR is talking to everyone reading the thread and not just you personally.

I think you are looking at it the wrong way. Or at least only from the upper half of things.

First off I never said that I was going to take the AVG from the last 10 challenges, I said it would be a good idea but the scoring system has not even been looked at yet. Don't jump the gun MAK...

As long as you guys keep doing what you are doing you will come out just fine I promise. As to already having a high AVG compared to someone that doesn't or a newbie, EVEN if I did the last 10 AVG scores the only time they would be beating you would be up front, after a challenge or 2 you would come right back out on top.

Don't worry about the scores I promise they will be fair and I will explain everything before we actually start the DPCO-III. Get your team together and post have them all post on Wednesday morning after rollover.

Oh VERY 'Olympic' LOL

I understand the system is not complete yet, that is why in my original post I said.. "We will wait and see" So we wait...........

I realise ti_evom did not mean to point the finger at us personally but we was the last winners and the moaning about the scoring started 2 weeks into it and quite a few people stopped submitting (some didn't even start for all their "pick me pick me" ramblings)

I have faith in you DD to insert a system that will be just and fair WOOHOO!

You might want to consider also that if a team member does not submit to a challenge 2 or 3 times that the team will then loose points, but PLEASE! no drug testing as my bum is still sore from the last round.

I was considering joining in with this, but that graffic image has now been permanently scarred on my brain and if this is how image validation is done in the DPCO I think I will have to carefully consider my options ;)

Any one interested please watch for the "DPCO-III Sign Up Roster" thread after rollover tonite.

When replying in that thread identify your country of birth (that's how Dirt Diver is arranging the teams).

That's a grey area issue isn't it? Don't remember reading the country of birth bit. In these last Olympics(in China not DPC :P) there was a Dutch/American bloke who mostly grew up and trained in the USA with their swim team. Since his parents where both from the Netherlands he was qaulified. The Dutch wanted him on their team, he swam for the US. And then there's Becky Hammon playing for Russia. Why can't we choose which country we want to represent?

Actually Techo it was like that this time round as the bundled teams such as India was thrown together that way so I doubt they will enforce the birthright law, You have Polish roots anyway mate the same with the whole Polish team so it wont affect us either way.
