I am going to jump right in and get started on the DPO-III...

Start date is going to be 16 Sept.

Instead of 8 weeks the DPCO will be 12 weeks long. It will be the same type of challenges that we have been doing (open challenges) that way everyone can participate.

Teams will have 8 people on a team with no more than 16 teams.

I'm not sure how I want to calculate the scores yet but it will be something like Scott has in the FSM. (I'll explain later)

anything I am missing now I will edit to add later.

Any questions?

Well we started with it like that in previous seasons but it never really works out like that to be honest. I don't know how we will do the teams but I am thinking about keeping it the same way and seeing how it goes.

The new scoring system won't be as straight forward as it was in the past and will eliminate one team to dominate the Olympics.

oooh 12weeks. Any chance we can vote on that to remain 8 weeks? ;) I was about to crack with this last one. But it ended at the right note. I don't think I could've done Dolls/Puppets or Overexposed!

Whoa, hey! I think we need to break them up. ;-)

Or at least start them with a 100 point deficit...

Should we juggle the teams ( I know this idea is going to scoffed at)? Considering the teams usually C&C their team members work, maybe having stronger photogs on each team with lower scoring photogs may help. This might take away from the whole competition thing though.

Or do randomly selected teams. Have everyone who wants to join put their name in a hat... =^)

I was really only kidding... If you have a team that is happy together, then I'd say let it be.

Perhaps a handicap system based on the members lifetime average scores, here at DPC. Yes, it is true I've sandbagged my entries for years, for just such a moment. But, the idea was mine, all mine.

Seriously though, it might even the playing field.

I'm still up for it either way. (I get too tempted not to enter, if I don't owe it to the team.)

Hmm, an interesting idea, combine the Olympic format with the > AVG format, scores based over/under your DPC average.

A nightmare for the scorekeeper, but interesting idea.
Actually we would only need to post team average at the start, then handicap for the duration of the tournament.

No pressure (Poland =^) ), just ideas!

ETA: speaking of Polska, well done you guys! Your photographs have been fantastic and I think your work has completely warranted being the front runners in this competition.

The scores won't be as high as you think. Just because a team is winning every challenge doesn't mean that they will be on top. I plan to score each team the same way the scores for the FSM are calculated.

I would just like to point out that there are no "handicaps" in the olympics, best in the world is the best by the times they set, scores they recieve and so on and so forth. Plus we will be lucky to get and average of 5.5 this week so every team can have bad weeks.

I understand that and the name Olympics was originally created with set rules and regulations. Since then teams have dominated and it's not fair for other teams to get 0 points or get spanked for a period of a time.

I wouldn't call this a handicap but more of a the harder you try the more points your team gets. I think the new scoring would help people learn more from actually trying to compete rather han just entering a competition just to have an entry.

Then Team Polska would win again, because we are the only team, which had all the members enter every challenge. Maybe that missing member could have produced a blue ribbon with a 7 score. Who knows? If they didn't try, they won't know. So changing the rules to give other teams a leg up, is unfair. It's telling the ones that didn't win, they are not losers, not to hurt their feelings. Complete rubbish. This is supposed to be a competition, with winners and losers. Sorry some win and some lose. Nature of the game.
