I'm no huge McCain fan but these ads are excellent. I think it shows the truth about Obama and his inexperience.

McCain and truth are rarely used in the same sentence.

Do you think they would be buddying up to Clinton if she was the VP candidate? I bet they had many ads in the can the flail on about her qualifications had she got the VP slot.

Reagan was inexperienced, Bush, Jr. waaaaaaaay inexperienced. Now experience matters?

Yeah, I gotta agree with you. Barack is a smart guy and with the right people around him would probably do just fine. However, considering that it is a different world (american perception anyway) since 911 I would feel more comfortable with McCain because he does have more experience. I think they are effective ads and that is mainly why I posted them. What do you think? If I hadn't already made up my mind I think they would give me pause for thought.

Both Reagan and Bush Jr. had been governors of large states, arguably a better qualification for President than being a senator is. Certainly, Americans have elected a LOT more governors than they have senators to the highest office. Not that I'm a fan of McCain (or Bush, for that matter), but just set the record straight on that...

Governors are, by design, very weak executive offices, especially in Texas. But, we don't have governors running, we have senators this time. The most "experienced" senator was also 894 out of 899 in his graduating class. We've had so much fun with a dumb guy in office for the lasy 8 years. I'm ready for a smart guy.

JFK was a young senator too, in a much more dangerous time internationally. He did OK staring down the Russians.

They are ways of deflection. If he talks about his opponent long enough he won't have to say anything about himself. Though I guess that's what the opponent is supposed to do.

that's what bugs me the most ... I wish the candidates would tell me what they stand for and what they plan to do ... reasons I should vote for them ... not reasons the opponent is a bad choice and I shouldn't vote for them.

I at least have some semblance of what John McCain will do but I don't have a clue about Obama. He seems to talk about 'change' ad nauseum but then fails to tell us how he will effect change and what kind of change he wants to make.

edit to say that there is a bit of truth about deflection but often that's what it comes down to in a swing voters mind:Who is the lesser evil? Chances are if they haven't made up their minds then they probably don't much like either choice.

Have you read anything on his website? There seems to be a lot there as to what he wants to do.

Have you ever seen a candidate explain in minute detail exactly what they are going to do and how they are going to do it?

OK - let's vote based on negative ads.
What a great idea. Forget about their records -
or what they are capable of doing as President.

It just seems to me that a candidate that talks boldly of change that they just might state what kind of change and how? I will check out the website.

That's patently false. You simply have refused to look in the most obvious of places -- his platform. Did you think that every speech, every television appearance, every radio spot would include minute details of this platform? Every candidate depends at least in some part on the literacy, inquisitiveness, and basic information gathering abilities of the people.

Obama doesn't have much of a record and from what I understand it is almost completely along party lines what we do have. Doesn't exactly speak to change.

No, they want to be led by the nose and believe everything they hear from their current candidate of choice. There's no need to look anything up or verify anything.

I've looked at a couple of different issues as posted on both McCain and Obama's websites and they are really not far apart on them. Surprisingly they both seem to have similar plans for the military (increase the size and modernize). And also on energy as far as incentives for more fuel efficiency and 0 emission vehicles. One glaring difference in their plans is the whole Pro-choice/Pro-life issue.

And McCain voted with GW 95% of the time. What's your point? As for change, at least the party that controls the Executive branch might change, and that is change enough for me.

I found the last one to be pretty effective but not the first two really. A majority of people want drilling and as you probably know Barack Got donations from oil companies as well just not as much. Comparing yourself to Abraham lincoln I don't think is a good idea since we live in a completely different world than he did. I don't think that is effective at all. If I did not like George Bush (70% of the population) the last ad would make me think though.

Big expectations from an individual who hasn't done anything yet to show that he should be associated with the likes of JFK.
