Me too, I can't see the evolution of the score, just the average

you have to do the math ... you know what your score was at say 80 votes, and you know what your score is after 81 votes ... so you can figure out what the last vote was.

I am not a member so i do not know for sure, but was reading a thread where the subject was the scores, and the members there said that there is a button that you get when you are a member...

$25.00 buys the button. Update everytime you press it. It good but not good at the same time.

OK, so we are talking about the "update" button. Click it and if there is only one new vote, simple math will tell you what that vote was. More than one and it gets much harder.

I don't have the patients to sit here and click "update" every 30 seconds. I have other things to do like taking naps and stuff.

Rather than submit a mediocre shot, I was going to sit out this Challenge. Then I spotted a particular 'wheel' situation yesterday that I thought was great. My local DPC addiction support group agreed that I might have another top 10 shot, but the average vote just dropped below 5. I was on a roll with 7 straight entries scoring 5.9 or better until I entered the voting Twilight Zone. Now I've got three in a row that might not reach 5- and two of those I was really excited about! I have exactly 1 comment between both current challenges (and that one's completely absurd... akin to saying Jacko's Out of Place image would be better without the distracting eyeball).

Regarding seeing individual scores... you can't. Members hit the update button and then use a calculator to determine individual votes and blood pressure.

I think the site should have a link so you can click and see the current breakdown of the votes. It really wouldn't be that hard for them to create since they already have the functionality created for when the voting is over.

Seems like it would be a very popular tool.

I'm very impressed with the turn out. Before when i read some of the prediction on the forum i thought people were gonna end up doing a lot of the same stuff. But just about everyone had something interesting going on with there pictures.

Heh, i loved the picture ia submitting but its nice to have other people judge it, because it give another perspective, and i get some good ideas on how to fix it. Especially because i tend to do the same thing over and over. Damn that contrast and my obsession with it.

So whats the norm around here? Im new here, but im guessing from your reactions that even the best of pictures dont come out with a 7and above average. A lot of you seem to be aiming for that solid 5. I myself am rocking back and forth between 4.3 and 4.5.

hm... after reading the long list of threads here, i would like to conclude myself. I am here not to score but i would be much appreaciate to receive more than 20 comments for every of my submission. Thanks in advance guys :P -

LoL <-- this is absolutely not a comment, someone commented this on my 'Wheel' submission, i wonder why :D

It means they took a look at your picture and began Laughing Out Loud. Hopefully, you intended the viewers to laugh (or at least smile) at your image. If not, I don't see a ribbon in the near future for you. <g> <---that means "grin"

Is it just my imagination, or did someone enter two images? There are two photos that have the same subject, same muted color and softness.
Is it legal to have more than one entry?

:)
You can only have one entry per challenge.
However, if your wife is with you, your daughter or your best buddy and you both shoot the same wheels......and you each have an account....well that is fine and dandy. :)
Several folks here are related, they have their own accounts.
:)

Somehow seems like poor sportsmanship. But then, this ain't exactly a sport.

Just done my first pass at voting - Ok there are some decent shots but there was nothing that I considered to be excellent or outstanding and nothing that was 'awesome'. Of course that's just my very humble opinion!

Hmmm... I think I was just on the receiving end of your first pass. It took me from 6.5 to 6.4 with one vote (after 75)... I guess mine's not 'awesome' either ;-)

I'm headed for my second lowest score with what I think of as my favorite photo. I was excited prior to the vote, now I'm laughing at myself for being so naive. I still like the picture a lot, if nothing else it's a good stock photo.

And thanks Justine, the comment you left was very kind and encouraging =)

Garry:

I'm with you, in spirit. I took one of my favorite photos and am getting hammered in the voting. IMHO: it is because people didn't read the challenge, which says:

"From the car to the roulette table, wheels of all types abound! Your challenge this week is to capture any type of wheel in your photograph."

The comments that I have, and a quick look through the thumbnails tell me that other people interperted the challenge very narrowly and concluded that this was a stock photo contest on wheels. In short, so what?

I had fun taking the picture, and I got a couple of helpful comments recognizing what I was trying to do and offering some helpful suggestions. (And, of course, I also have some comments telling me about my "wrong" decisions, but, I think they were well meaning, so I am taking them in that spirit.)

That is good enough for me. In short, forget your score. It is just a number.

Bill

Grrr...
isn't a wheel something circular that rolls along? If my photo shows something circular that is clearly moving and rolling along, isn't it a wheel? Sheesh.
(Directed at all the comments that say I haven't met the challenge)

some peeps with a little too much time on their hands will keep clicking the update button. This way they can 'catch' a single vote and work out what the score was. If the voter also left a comment they now how they voted - sad, very sad (but I have done it too).

I started out at 5.59 after 38 votes, down to 5.37 after 106. Still my highest score so am happy to be breaking the 5 barrier :)
