Time has got away from me tonight, but thought you might enjoy this one. This is the Ab Jenkins Duesenberg SJ Special (aka the Mormon Meteor) - worth about $4 million and is literally one of a kind (even more so than most Duesenbergs). This car held the World Land Speed Record in 1935 (briefly) & in 1936 (both the 24 and 48 hours records).
To fully appreciate this auto, you have to hear it (and feel it as it goes by). After the parade, I was walking back to my car. The owner was heading out, and about 1/2 block away from me, he cleared the safety barricade and stood on it. The car roared and lept forward. The driver behind (in a '36 or '37 Cord - similar to the pale green one I posted earlier) rose to the challenge and took off after him. Both cars were easily going over 40 within 1/2 block. Looked like kids in pony cars, except these cars were 70 years old!

This electric car really caught my attention. . . mainly because of the current interest in other fuel sources. When cars first came on the scene there were any number of different fuels. No one knew that gasoline would become the dominant source. Other things that captured my attention were the bucket seats, steering tiller, rear facing passengers, and wrap around glass. There is certainly nothing new. Once again, note the cut crystal parking light.

Day 16:
On Hastings beach, these tractors pull the fishing boats up onto the shingle, and then push them back down the beach to launch them on their fishing trip. Each boat has its own Track Marshall, usually there are thirty or so parked up by the boats. Note the kreels in the background.

1970 Plymouth Superbird, and yes, that is Richard Petty's signature on the right inside of the rear wing. Car in the back is a '70 Hemi 'Cuda.

This is an engine shot for the more mechanically bent. It's unusual and different. Not so much the shot as the engine itself and its location.

A more "Regular" shot once again from the dragstrip at the base of the mountain where I live. These old and rare cars run virtually every Sunday from April through October. The dragstrip has been in operation since 1958.

I have to get broken free this weekend and do some shooting.....I dunno why, but I've been crazy busy. I'm surprised to find out how many decent car images I have for "Filler" I just never really consciously thought about how many there are.
Here are a couple of shots where I was trying to portray new stuff in a favorable way..

The funny thing (actually, not funny, sad really) is that I actually walked past a Lamborghini roadster today, set up as part of a promotion, yet I was too shy to get out the camera and circle it looking for good angles. Worse than that, on the drive home on Saturday afternoon just gone, I passed a monster truck-type of thing, made using a BMW 3-series convertible body. If only I could have figured a way to bring it to a halt, so that I had time to dig the camera out of the boot for a couple of shots.

1930's Auburn Boattail Roadster 12 Cylinder
That big center light? It was attached to the steering, so it would shine left/right depending on which way the car was turning.

These were taken nearly one year ago, at the Cedar Lake Speedway 3rd Annual Enduro. (Cedar Lake Speedway, just outside of New Richmond, WI). 42 car wreck on the front stretch in the early going - caused largely by high dust levels. No one was seriously injured, just a few bumps and bruises. I didn't do much with these - they were taken with my Olympus in jpeg. This was before I saw the RAW light.
