Doesn't seem like a lot was added but the selective dodge and burn feature makes Lightroom more of a standalone product.

SWEET! Thanks, David! I had actually stopped watching for a while, as I figured it was still a few weeks out. Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!

Here is the discussion of LR 2.0 on Photoshop Lightroom Killer Tips as well.

Is anyone involved in any of the Photowalks they are putting on? I think I'll apply to lead one in Phoenix, AZ. There is already one scheduled in Tucson, AZ, for those down that way.

Start scrolling down the page, Lightroom Journal has a great list (surprisingly long and detailed) of "What's new" in Lightroom 2.0 and even discusses what's different between LR 2.0 Beta and the release.

I like the Graduated filter...no need to mess around with masks in Photoshop anymore...

As an aside, another very good reason to shoot RAW is that software to process RAW files get better and better every year, so you can go back to your old RAW files and get better results in converting them.

I wasn't going to spend the $99 to upgrade, until I read this. Now I'm not sure...

Yeah, there's a LOT MORE in 2.0 than I had anticipated. To me it looks like it's easily worth the upgrade price. And besides, $99 is under my "threshold of pain", making it easy to splurge for the upgrade.

Upgraded last night but it was late and I haven't had a chance to run a test drive yet. From the list it looks more than worth the $99 upgrade. I'm just happy that I can open to PS w/o writing a tiff file to my drive, that was a pain in the arse.

I was thinking that single feature might make it worth the upgrade price...

Plus this:

"...the new behavior enables a faster a more functional workflow that includes...
• Merge multiple exposures into a single Photoshop HDR image
...
"

Seems like we will be able to emulate the "Picture Styles` found in Canon bodies.

"Improved profiles for Raw data: An enhanced set of profiles has been released on Adobe Labs in order to provide an improved default rendering of raw data. (Many Canon photographers complained that our reds were too orange.) In addition to the improved Adobe default profile, there are additional profiles for each camera that emulate the results that would be obtained were those settings chosen in the camera manufacturers software or if the photographer chose to shoot JPEG."

Yeah, I saw that on the list and drooled a bit... can't wait to try it out.

yeah, I just found that out the hard way since I have CS2. Oh well, it's still worth the upgrade with all the new features and I'm sure I will eventually move up to CS3 or the next version of PS so I will be able to utilize that eventually.

Well, I just made my first export from LR 2.0, and it's my entry for the Still Life IV challenge! Whoo-hoo! I even used a super-coolio ACR 4.5 camera profile.

Be still my heart... "Export Functionality": Maybe this version actually has some functions instead of the rubbish in v1  Oh well... some more $ to adobe to get what should have been there from the start. I hope the multi drive thing is better cause it makes a mess of network drops now. Too much to hope for speed improvments maybe... nah... Thx; I will prob upgrade anyway.

And if you are wanting those camera profiles, they can be grabbed from HERE

I've just finished updating my copy, now to see if I can find my way around any more!

ETA: I'm already liking what I'm seeing. On my older PC, the interface response seems quite a bit faster than 1.X was. I can't wait to get my new machine built, it should really sing.

OK, testing the trial, imported some old landscape stuff in to test out the ND filter. Very impressed. This shot was pretty blown out in the sky - added ND filter and dropped it 3 stops, quite happy with the result. Then added an orange filter that covered the sky and looks firey!! Probably a bit overprocessed but just toying around you know.. Added a `local` vignette as well.
