Seems to me this nice lady from Adrorama has taken the time and visited our site, and has claimed she will try to fix the negative issues. I fail to see anywhere that B&h, Amazon or any other camera supplier has done the same..

Actually, there was a B&H person who has contributed here in a similar fashion. His name is on the tip of my tongue... I'll post it if I can remember.

Yup, that's the one. I went out to eat right after I posted my note, and his name came to me mid-bite!

Hope you weren't eating oysters -- especially the Rocky Mountain kind.

I'm glad to see that a rep from Adorama is here to at least try to show that they care, but count me as another person who had a very negative experience with ordering from them.

I usually order from B&H and in dozens of orders they messed up once but made good on it by correcting the order AND refunding the shipping costs - now, granted, that might be because through me my company spends about $12-18k per year at B&H but it goes to show how much a company like Adorama stands to lose on a single unhappy customer. In this particular case, I was ordering some things for me personally so I was doing a little more scrutinizing on prices. It seems stupid looking back, but I went with Adorama because I was saving something like $15 on about $500 worth of stuff. If they had made me happy, I would have gone on to spend several thousand dollars more in the past few months alone through my company, plus quite a bit or even all of my future budgets . Instead, I find myself going back to B&H as my first choice. As well, the next time I went to order something that B&H didn't have in stock, I went through Calumet & didn't even look at Adorama. I never had ordered through Calumet, but I figured it couldn't be any worse than my experience with Adorama. See, I'm fine with a company making a minor mistake - where it becomes a bad experience for me is when I contact them about it and they don't do what they can to correct it AND make me happy. IIRC, my order with Adorama had like 5 or 6 items & I ended up having an issue with all but one. Either the description was wrong, the item wasn't in stock when it was listed as being in stock or, as with one item, didn't even work! In the end, they didn't do ANYTHING to offset the poor experience I had. It took a lot of back & forth with customer service just to get the matter resolved correctly and they didn't do anything beyond what might be considered their legal obligation to fulfill my order.

When will these companies take this stuff seriously? When will they realize that you never know the dollars you're chasing away with poor customer service? Adorama isn't the only company that has lost my money, either. I've met some REALLY stupid & rude people even when calling someplace to make an order. There was one time about 12 years ago where I called up a company (I won't mention the name in case they've changed since then) and was about to spend $9500 with them & the sales guy was a complete jerk to me because I was asking a lot of questions about the item (this was before you could find as much info on the web). He questioned whether I really intended to buy it and accused me of wasting his time. I hung up on him & ordered it from B&H instead. That turned out to be my first order from B&H - I've easily funneled $100k+ through B&H since then. That's all it took, less than 5 minutes with one a**hole at a company cost them thousands upon thousands of dollars. You just never know...

Anyway, good luck & happy shopping...

Just my internet paranoia, but from these HelenOyster quotes is this some India robot?

"Have you visited the store since it almost trebled in size, back in the summer?"

"If, however, you are a contented Adorama shopper"

Sorry, bad English always makes me wonder about the origin

Her name is HelenOster, so I suspect these two, out of several posts are simply typos. It happens, you know. :)

And yes, from what I can tell with the SC superpowers (oooooooo, I just got an idea. . . .), she is from adorama, not India, and she is real, not a robot.

I just had to cover my mouth to keep from spitting cola on the Husband's monitor! hahahhahhahhahaa! I remember that thread :)

*just an FYI, soda burns coming out of your nose*

:D

ETA: Almost forgot to respond to the OP haha!!

Consider me another Adorama customer lost. I ordered a print with some VERY specific instructions (as requested by the customer) and they just sent me (I'm guessing) what they felt like printing that day instead of what I asked for. Needless to say, they cost me money because I had to give her the photograph for less (no re-order because NO time), and I will never use them again. MPIX is my BFF. They have WONDERFUL customer service (and overnight shipping for less) so I get them faster and if something is wrong, they have time to fix it (and do) so I don't lose money.

Okay, maybe I'm tired but I fail to see where her English, as you've quoted it, is so terrible. Please don't tell me it's because she used the word, "trebled"...

Yes, contented means content or satisfied and treble means triple, more commonly used by the British and Canadians than Americans, I believe :)

Nothing odd about "contented" at all; if I am content with your company, I am a contented customer. Perfectly standard English. "Trebled" is more of a Britishism, we'd usually say "tripled" over here.

But all of this is good, proper English. Very nice use of commas, btw... Have we gotten to the point where we mistrust the reality of folks who take their language seriously? Sheesh...

From now on I'm going to suspect that anyone who can't differentiate between "your" and "you're" is an Indian troll :)

With tongue planted firmly in cheek.

Britishism! Britishism, it's what we over here call English, not some mangle version used on your side of the pond

Bad English? What's bad about it? It is perfectly normal English. Mark Twain had some good quotes that would be àpropos.

Same here with the print orders. I have about 30 pre-paid 11x14's, and could care less if I ever use them (forget the money, it isn't worth the hassle of getting bad prints OR fighting with customer service to get the credits refunded!)

Most recently, a customer wanted a gorgeous 16x24, along with a bunch of smaller prints. You guessed it, they screwed up (severely underexposed) the biggest print. What really hit home is that I went to a Wal-Mart & had a MUCH better print made. This particular store is a test-site for some terrific new equipment, including a large format Epson. None of their pre-made crops would fit a 16x24, so I upgraded the client to a 20x30 (on my own dime).

Pretty sad when Wal-Mart has to save your reputation with a client... but I'm happy they did! The young lady who helped me REALLY knew her stuff, unlike the impolite rude CS person @ AdoramaPix.
