I recently discovered a person on DeviantArt (another photo website) using images that have been posted in challenges here, and apparently has gotten images from other photo sites on the internet. There were several images that I know for a fact were from here, and others that look familiar and could be from here. She has been reported to the admins of that website, but I thought I would post it here with a link to her profile for people to see if anyone recognises any of their images. Hopefully the admins there will do something soon, however, it does also bring up a point of how to protect images posted in challenges here or elsewhere on the web.

if anyone sees their photo.. quickly take a screen shot with "print screen" or something for proof.

Yes, that one is mine. Thanks so much for all the private messages! It really means a lot to me. I've never had anything like this happen.

I'm also going to inform a few others, as I recognize a couple other photos from a community I'm in.

Again, thanks everyone!

movieman, i reported your pic for abuse to DA, as well as a couple other recent ones I have seen on LiveJournal. Moodville brought it to my attention, as initially, a pic I had posted on LJ was stolen by this user.

Yes, I saw that, thank you very much. I've also sent an email out.

I think livejournal is where they were taken from, as ther other image of mine I found on there was only posted to livejournal. I also saw some from the photocontest community in there too, and I posted there as well.

Thanks again,

David

Had a quick look back through some of the challenges trying to see who it was, knew I'd seen it recently.

David already knows about it, so that's fine!

already removed. did you get a screen shot?

I took a screenshot because you suggested it.

But what should we do with it?
03/28/2004 02:01:17 PM · #13
hold onto it. it shows the gallery owner's name on top and the images in thumbnail. at least that proves it was seen there when it was illegal.

You can use it as proof that there actually were illegal photographs on the site. Right now there are only 6 left, apparently the other 18 were not hers. Incredible :-(((

Jebus help us all! I think its sad someone would stoop so low to do this. Maybe its time for a javascript or something to stop people doing this to our photos. Dont know the cost implications - anybody?

It isn't so much a cost implication as being totally useless.

If someone has the image displayed on their screen, they've got a copy of it. Silly nag javascripts and right click blockers and stuff are trival to bypass.

Ok Gordon thanks - I was unaware that all the efforts some sites go to are a waste of time, which begs the question why they do it in the first place??

I am not familiar with that site at all, but why she is not banned is unreal to me.

She will be soon enough. It is a huge site so I expect the admins are very busy.

I would like to bring something else into this that may, or may not be related. I received a strange email into my account yesterday that I use for dpc pm's, and while the account is also listed on Ebay I don't often get email sent to this account.

Anyway, I'm wondering if other memebers of dpc have gotten this email which was one megabyte in length and had as the subject matter: "rental pictures." It was from JDRP10524@aol.com. I saved the email, but don't open anything from senders that I don't know. I will do so when I can get to the local library and use their public computers.

Don't know if it relates or not but I just thought it a strange email that I've never received anything like that before. Anyone else here get it?

it seems that the pics were removed from her gallery. that is so sad. What did she think that no one was gonna notice?
