This is wrong, my submission was perfectly valid. My image was an INTERPRETATION of existing artwork. I'm sure DPC have no idea how this picture was taken and therefore they should not disqualify me without reason. I'm outraged! This was going to be my first top10 and people reccomend me for disqualification because it LOOKS like digital art. Sorry but that's just not good enough. I demand DPC un-disqualify me immediately. I could send you other pictures I took of this wich clearly show that this is perfectly valid.
Again, this is wrong.

I have sent you a private message in this regards. Please look for it, and, in the future, correspond directly with the SC about DQ issues. In case your picture is re-instated, it wouldn't be proper to reveal the details of your submission at this point in the voting process. |

Did you explain your position and provide the other pic(s) in your exchanges with the Site Council?
I agree that the line between "literal representation" and "interpretation" is very broad and can be interpreted very differently by different people. Up to this point I was not aware of may images being DQ'd for this rule violation, and I've seen quite a few that I thought skated the line.
Don't take the DQ to heart, it's a learning process for the Site Council as well, and they do the very best they can.

I'll second that. I really thought the SC had decided not to enforce that part of the rules. Twice I suggested images be DQ'ed for this and nothing came of it. They were neither DQ'ed nor validated. I'll be the first to give out with the attaboys if SC has decided to tighten up a bit on this rule.

Not that I care one way or the other, but there's an entry in the Orange challenge titled "Stewarts - Since 1924" that is simply a photo of a bottle of Stewart's Orange & Cream soda. Isn't that very similar to ArmMarteins' photo that was disqualified?

The photo has been reinstated. I think the problem was that when we requested proof...He didn't give us any details on how he created the photo, which is WHY we request proof in the first place. Without the proper information, we came to our judgement with what we had. It was not until afterwards, that we were enlightened with this further information. I cannot stress enough how important it is to fill in the information that we need when we request proof on an image.

??? It was disqualified, so you won't see it unless he posts it.
Arm, please post your dq'd picture. I'm "outraged" that you haven't done so yet. :) |

I didn't want to start a new thread since there's been lots of DQ talk.
But I'll be going out of town next week, and I pretty sure I don't have a winner, nor a questionable photograph, but if someone does request a DQ, how long do I have to validate before it's taken out of the running?

| You can request a DQ for yourself and in the reason box, let us know that you're going out of town. Then you'll have the opportunity to upload just in case. |

What mk says definitely works.
I was on vacation for a week while the Offscreen expectation challenge was going on. I submitted my comments and the original file and it was all verified before I left.
Had I had a DQ request, or heaven forbid actually got a ribbon, I'd have been safe. Without it I would have been, rightly, disqualified.

Actually, the best way to "submit proof" in advance is by requesting an Admin Note on your picture.
Go to the voting page for the challenge the picture is in. Find your image (which will always be the very last image in the list of thumbnails under a bar that says "Your Photograph") and click on it. While viewing your image, notice there is a link that says Request an Admin Note for your image . Click on it, and you will be taken to a form where you can submit your original, and a text box where you can provide your editing details, and, most importantly, the reason why you are requesting the admin note.
