can I just complain?

Ugh bc Houston is boring and you have to drive for hours to get anywhere rural worth shooting, and Austin is awesome and the (nearby) surrounding countryside is perfection and I just got back from a trip there today! Boo.

Oh well, I'll just have to work harder. Thanks for the links!

Is it just me,

Or are you sitting in the middle of an urban landscape, complaining about the trip to a rural one?

I laughed so hard at this challenge...I live right in the prettiest little bit of rural Indiana!

But...my XTi won't come this week. So I'm gonna have to shoot with my old Fuji...

My highest score is in this challenge from last year.

Tough act for me to follow.

Guess this is *my* ultimate challenge!!!

just in time for a ROAD TRIP ;)

Despite all the arguing, it looks like the last rural landscape challenge only had a handful of Top 10 finishers that defined "rural" as "sparsely inhabited". I may open my horizons on this one and just go with a nice landscape.

I'd have to find it, but there was a thread that blue and red did not represent "rural" landscapes. A number of people wanted buildings in the shot.

Haha, no I'm complaining that Houston is boring and Austin would have been way more fun to shoot, both the urban areas and the rural. If only the challenge would have been announced a day earlier. I probably just feel like that cause I'm from Houston though.

Oh...gotcha. I was thinking this thread is pretty darn tame. :-)

Ugh, I have absolutely no idea of anything around here fitting either challenge. At least with the Boats challenge I was able to enter my famous paper boat, however for this...

I entered something of an Urban landscape for my free study entry. May as well get out of town and get rural!

This week I'm in Chicago! My "home" for 6 yrs. If I was still in Finland, I think I would be doing rural landscape!

SOOOO not FAIR! i'm going to the middle of nowhere- and there is NO internet connection and its _ENTIRELY RURAL_ the water is so still its like glass and its -beautiful- but I wouldn't be able to edit and submitt my pic since my laptop has no editing software on it and the nearest place to get an internet connection is approx an hr + drive... *snifs* *pouts* but i'll come back with tons of landscape shots and waterscape shots ;) :-D

I looked through the last Urban Landscape challenge and the first 13 photos have water and reflections in them.

I'm wondering if someone who, say, lives in the desert would have a chance at landing a top 10 score? (For the literal people - this is tongue in cheek)

I wonder how many New Yorkers are going to enter a shot of this -> in the Urban challenge. That waterfall under the bridge is supposedly modeled after Skógarfoss, you can see it below.
