OMG...I was in high school...HASH jeans were the rage and we wore some stuff that I swear I saw a high school kid wearing again...Thank god platform shoes (the huge ones) went OUT! Disco sucked...but music then was excellent!

I was discussing with God the problems with hippies and offered to come down and help out. A year later I was born. However by the time I grew to an age to stop the hippie movement the hippie movie had already stopped. And now I'm stuck here.

I was 8, naive, and a more than a bit clueless.

Actually nothing has changed that much, except my age.

This time that year I was preparing to become a four year old.

I was living in So Cal, single, going to Laguna Beach almost every weekend, partying by the pool, going to the night clubs, tolerating the lingering disco music, going to out door rock parties, dating casually, living in a beautiful loft apartment, working for a booming oil tool manufacturing company, making darn good money and just loving life!

Edit to say *darn I think I just gave my age away* ;)

We have been putting together out 70's attire the past few weeks, and we are having a blast.

I always think of my dad when I thin of 70's. His brown polyester pants, big afro (LOL), and his big ole' yellow car he drove.

I have a kick a$$ dress! slightly disco, slightly not... :)

I wish I had a photographer for the party.....

Hmmm well I was a child/teen of the 70's and there is a pretty big difference between the early 70's and late 70's...

early: had a poster of Jim Morrison on my door, played my beatles 45's on my record player, wore crazy bell bottoms (one pair was coca-cola and the other the american flag - photo in my portfolio haha), wore a leather peace sign choker, watched the news every night regarding the war (vietnam)...

late: doobies, disco, and dating - poster of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, watched SNL with the greats- John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Steve Martin - got married, had a baby, still discoed, cried when Elvis died, bought my first car (72 Satellite Sebring - sweeeet) thought 60 cents a gallon for gas was too expensive (can you imagine)...

1978... a year out of high school, working 60 hour weeks making $5 an hour and thinking "man, I have it made!"
Driving my 1972 Olds Cutlass (gawd, I miss that car!), and trying to figure out a long-range plan for my life.

I was flunking high school because I'd chosen the wrong courses (transferred to a different school the following year and did fine ;-)). One major seventies event I took part in that year was a local production of "Godspell".

Ditto for me too. But I was 13, and my life revolved around the roller skating rink!

I was in my second year of graduate school. Who knew I'd be there 4 more years after that (full time).

Making $2800 a year, if I recall, in a graduate assistantship, but that included free tuition.

Hmmm...1978... *counts on fingers* Ahhh yes! Had just turned 21, living in the coolest college residences ever (Lethbridge), with b/f (now hubby) living in the next unit. Needless to say, his place is where I spent most of my time.

Lol, those places were great; 2-storey townhouse-style with full basement. There were two colour schemes between the 18 units; blue/red (b/f's place)or yellow/orange (ours). One wall in each of the livingroom and kitchen was painted BRIGHT orange and the furniture was indestructable molded plastic, yellow with orange cushions. The footstools, upside down, made perfect sleds!

Corel dishes had just come out so of course someone had to test if they were really unbreakable, by throwing a bowl against the wall. Well, they DO break.... into 23 million TINY slivers that keep appearing in feet for months!

Nights in the "Barn" (student union building) drinking 50c draft, playing pool and pinball, dancing to live bands such as Streetheart...

Borrowing a friend's car, doing donuts in the snow in the parking lot until we came within inches of hitting the back of the college building...

Frostbite from riding on a float for the torchlight parade during Winter Carnival...

Texas-mickey Grey Cup parties that started at noon and went until... well, probably until everyone had passed out!

Oh, and attended a few classes in between all the fun :)
