I need your help. I have around 500$ to buy my nephew a dslr. Preferably a Nikon, because I can give him some of my lenses.
Do you have any suggestions. |

D50, after selling the d40 d40x and d60 for some time, and having to deal with 25% returns due to defective out of the box or just being horrible..... I know without a shadow of a doubt that the D50 was the best entry level DSLR that nikon probably will ever make. It is a beast and takes beautiful pictures. If I had my way, I would restock my store with the D50's and use d40's as firewood for my next hiking trip. I know nikon makes a lot more profit with this body, but when you sacrifice almost all of your reliability and durability, is it worth it.
plus even though I shoot canon, I just picked up a d50 off someone getting a d300 from me for $100 to make into my infared camera. |

Look around for a good used Fuji S3 Pro. They use Nikkors, from the first Ai thru the most modern ones. They do not meter with the manual focus (non CPU) lenses though. I am not sure if the D50 or D40's will meter with the Ai lenses.
The color and dynamic range is excellent, and factory service is also quick, accurate, and very civil.
