Well I'd say in a macro basic editing Irene would take him 9/10 times.
In "portrait" advanced editing Joey would take her 10/10 times.

I'd say anything in basic editing, Irene would win 6 of 10 times.

I'm not sure you could say currently, since his last challenge entry was over 18 months ago.

But it would be interesting to see a head to head between the two.

There's a whole new world OUTSIDE DPC filled with photography ... WOW!
I think It's great that Joey is getting the success he deserves in the real world.

I was looking at my nephew's Facebook page and noticed he'd joined "fans of... somebandIdon'trecall" and thought the CD cover looked like Joey's work. Sure enough, a search showed up that it was.

Then there's Esquire etc. It'll be interesting to see where he pops up next.

edit to fix which magazine

I just found out about this today, when I was buying Joey on Myspace (it's a game on there) and when I told my 13 year old daughter found out that I knew (through DPC) the photographer who did the posters she about freaked, hell, so did I, LOL! I'm not surprised though, not at all. This is a HUGE deal, Twilight will be bigger than Harry Potter in and it's not just teenage girls, it's adult women as well, I can say that since I'm one of them, read all the books, can't wait for the movies. :) This is going to be amazing to watch! Congrats Joey!

Yeah, my other daughter saw that. Also, we all agree that Joey could play the part of Jacob Black in the movie, what do you say Joey? You up for taking Taylor Lautner out and taking his place? LOL!

Joey's poster photo was reproduced in our local newspaper (The Beaver County Times) to accompany a story about the movie's soundtrack today. Just thought it was cool to see it in print!

News-Quote:
The vampire romance "Twilight" drained the box office in its opening weekend, taking in $70.6 million. Catherine Hardwicke's film also enjoyed the biggest opening ever for a female director, blowing away the previous standard of $41.1 million set by Mimi Leder 's " Deep Impact " in 1998.

And Joey's poster helped.

It was awesome to see that poster at the theater and think, "Hey, I know that guy!"

I'm a bit late coming to this, but I just found out about Joey's wonderful job on the Twilight poster. Yay, congrats Joey! And have a fun, safe trip to Africa!

I know....if a different photographer would have been hired to do the shot, the movie would have surely flopped big time.

Wow! A movie poster! The art of photo editing. Why does everyone praise this kid on his pictures? I'm not saying he doesn't take a decent picture, but it seems he has mastered the art of editing instead of photographing. Anyone can take a picture. How you edit it will always make or break a photo, and if you can't take a good picture, you really need to know how to edit. Let's get it straight, the boy does some great photo editing, but falls short on the art of taking a great picture. I know a lot of ya'll are not going to like this, but let's face it, the truth hurts. Congrats to having an agent to help you land this gig. I'm not trying to take away your glory, but I just can't take this kind of praise anymore on decent pictures with a lot of editing. Go ahead, nail me to the wall now. Thanks. My hands and feet are bleeding from the nails. Congrats Joey on the poster. I'm sure many others would have liked to get that job. What's next, a $500.00 dvd on how to land and edit a movie poster?

Well of course it would have. Didn't have anything to do with the millions of teenage girls wanting to see the movie, and could care less about the poster. Or the fact that the book was written by a good author, or had a good story.

Because he produces images that are far superior to that produced by the average photographer/processor and a lot of us apparently appreciate his skills at doing so.

Let it go.

Good grief... he's a 19-year-old kid who has managed to climb to heights of this field that 99% of the rest of us can only dream of achieving in our lifetimes. He has remarkable talent, an amazing eye, and the ability to carry out projects that are normally done by people who have twice his age worth of experience alone.

And of course it's worth mentioning that he has been a great member of DPC since 2004.

If you can't give a nod of the hat to someone who has accomplished all that he has, you might just have a few unresolved issues to tend to...

Saying that he falls short of taking great photos is very ambiguous. What do you mean he doesn't take great photos, have you not seen his africa shots and the obstacles he went through just to take a photograph (video blog). His efforts are clearly conveyed through his works. Normally I would agree with you to the extent that just because you land a huge gig doesn't deem you as an amazing photographer, but Joey doesn't fit this description, there's a reason why he lands good gigs. He probably does have a great agent, but i think you need to produce more than just "good" or "decent" photographs to land a gig like Twilight or get published into magazines consistently. In terms of his editing, I commend him for being able to create such a distinctive editing style. But based on the majority of his photographs, it's his lighting techniques that make his photographs so appealing.

I'd also like to point out the while Ansel Adams took good pictures, they only became realized as great images after he edited them. Making an image isn't just pointing the camera in the right direction and releasing the shutter.

I don't dream about doing what he does. This is just a hobby for me.
