This was also cross posted on at least FM as well. So I wouldnt be so sure that just one community made a difference. I'm pretty sure I saw it on at least one other as well but cant remember. I'm sure they needed it, and they deserved it, but they also played the crowd on multiple websites to make it happen, which I guess is part of the game.

And you don't think they all did this? Usually in these voter-decided contests the one who begs widest wins. For a change the best entry did :) |

I think they paid for the car and the station subsidizes the cost with in kind advertising.....But yeah, it was an advertising expense.
Congrats! This is one of the best threads I've read in a while. It had everything, drama, suspense and a happy ending. Thanks for sharing!

wow .. wot a story ..
i checked out pik your fav pic and keith  wingyisleeds had made a nice comment .. so i went to have a look at his portfolio .. i noticed this thread that he'd posted in as one of his last thread posted to and came to have a look .. amazing how you can go on quite a journey in dpc .. altho this was only a very short one . !!
loved your story .. its great when ppl who are really deserving win in a competition like that and excellent how your dpc friends voted .. shame i noticed this until it was too late coz i would definitely have voted for you too .. turned out you didnt need that one extra vote anyway ..
the photograph you entered in the competition was really the best one there ..
CONGRATULATIONS ON A BRILLIANT WIN AND A FANTASTIC NEW CAR ..

I'm sure if given the oppurtunity they all did. The point I was trying(apparently poorly) is that is wasnt just this community that made it happen. The people over on FM are bragging the same way that their community is why they won. obviously they had a great photo and a great gameplan to win the car and it took everyone from all the communities to make it happen.

::whew:: sorry - busy weekend :D thank you all again for the support!
The radio station is to post a video of Glenda winning the car, and I'll post up the link when its ready.
You guys are MY heroes, because DPC is THE site that got me back into photography. I've been feeling guilty the last few months, because of how much I've spent on this hobby... needless to say, that guilt is gone after having won a car - in a PHOTO contest! Sorry if that sounds brag-ish; not meant to.
Actually, the pic below is of the radio station manager Gary & a promotions model, Red, and they really humbled me (in a GOOD way!)
After our time at the stadium,
we went for dinner / drinks with them & others. Gary let me know that we'd won by a considerable margin, and Red stated "See, your work IS that good." (She KNOWS how much I beat myself up & fret about my photos.) There statements of confidence, and YOUR help here the last few years, has meant the world to me.

A belated congrats to you & Glenda, Billy!!! That is awesome. I looked at the finalists and have to agree with what was said here over & over - your photo was BY FAR the best. No question!
Not to dampen the excitement, but be sure to plan for the Federal taxes next year. (I won a car once - long story).

I stopped by the dealership @ lunch, seems there will be a small 'ceremony' this Friday. Still not sure about any taxes / fees, etc. THANKS!!!
(eta - not my video, but that of the station. I'm just glad they didn't get ME on tape much... there be a REASON i work behind the camera) ;)
