Okay, everyone, this is the weigh in thread.

You may post your starting weight, if you wish, but it is not necessary, but you do need to weigh "today" -- 5/2 (I'm posting this on Thursday night because I may not be online in the morning).

AND WE'RE OFF!

I actually have to post my starting weight as of a few days ago, because I've lost some and I can't go beyond 10. My start is 175.

Oh, and karmat.....since you took up the man/woman gauntlet I threw down.......8>)

I'll throw an additional $5 to the winner's favorite charity if YOU beat me.

I am in a similar boat. I decided a couple of days before seeing this challenge to start working at this. So on Sunday I weighed in at 257. This morning I weighed in at 252. But I will take todays starting weight. It's not like I dont have the extra 5 pounds to lose though.

So put me down for 252.

There might be a better chance of getting a good reading if wieghing in first thing in the morning each time, relatively.

timfythetoo and I are weight-twins.... 252 here. :-)

So this means that I have found my head to head (or belly to belly) competition.

I'm weighed and ready to go.

(AND, I fixed the link in the old thread -- sorry. How embarrassing - shouldn't try to do things in a hurry.)

Some more ideas --

Take a picture of yourself today. (Tim, the fairytooth shots will be fine -- hahahah). Then, in three months take another and see if the difference is visible. Of course, there is no way in Fayetteville that I will show my before picture unless my after picture is substantially better. :)

Not an endorsement, because I've not seen nor tried it, just passing it along

Also if someone is wanting a good scale to keep up with their weight, fat %, and BMI, CVS drugs sales a great scale for $49.95. I just purchase on the other day for this challenge and for my own benefit. The name of the product is "Life Fitness" Premium Digital Body Scale with Fitness Indicators.
(couldn't get the link to work -- let me work on that)

And, finally, NikonJeb, you are on. I may not be able to beat any of you with my camera, but I think I can do this weight loss thing. :)

Me too. Now, I just have to figure out HOW to lose the weight! (I eat pretty healthy, and exercise daily, but I eat too much, and too many carbs I'm sure!) Just going to try to eat less at meals, try to only eat when I'm really hungry, and maybe exercise a bit longer each day and see if that works!

Thankfully, biking season is here again! (For winter and wet weather, I walk briskly on the treadmill.) Unfortunately, it's a wet day today. :(

How embarassing, but that's my idea of how to keep the loss going-- JerseyGenie beginning weight: 178.6 and the age is double-5.

Try eating smaller meals more frequently. Five or six small meals a day. Make sure to eat breakfast. Drink tons of water.

Oh I can't believe I'm saying this (how embarrassing) but here goes.

weigh in:

Should have skipped the pasta yesterday. ugh.

weigh in: 217.8 | 32.2 BMI

(studiously avoiding the breakroom full of doughnuts)

weigh in= 137.6 (but keep in mind I'm only 5'3")

The weight I'm trying to lose is in that "last 10lbs" (or 20) category where I've been trying to lose it for 2 years. My BMI says it's 24.3 which is whithin normal range, but seriously, it's all fat and barely any muscle. Exercise time! eek, I'm scared.

Fitness and Dieting Tracker

If anyone wants an online journal type thing, I've found this one helpful in the past. Pretty intuitive and easy to use as well. Oh yea, and free.

Hey, don't be embarrassed....I was THRILLED when I hit 299, 'cause it meant that I had lost 61 pounds......and was under 300 for the first time in about five years.

A whole lot of the way this works for me is all about perception and attitude.

I have to do this for *ME* ultimately......my health, well being, and the way I do, and will feel about myself. So I don't worry about what anyone else MIGHT think or say, I just concentrate on doing for myself, and my health.

Just as an aside.....here are a couple in-progress pictures.

March '07: [thumb]490909[/thumb]Dec. '07: [thumb]626997[/thumb]March '08: [thumb]653345[/thumb]

I can see the difference looking at the pics, and in the mirror, but I still don't particularly care to see myself yet.....I'm still fairly overweight.

But the visual thing isn't what it's about. I FEEL worlds better having lost a bunch of weight, better than I've felt in probably 20 years.

I don't have sleep apnea any longer, I don't have anywhere near the aches and pains, and I feel like I actually have some level of control over how my body moves, rather than just dragging this giant weight through life.

I'm sorry to ramble, but the difference is more than I could ever have imagined.

YOU are the one who will make the difference, and you can do it; *I* know it can be done, and you can see the proof right here.

Take heart, my friend.

I'm also weighed in! Most importantly for me, I'm all measured. I have a feeling I'll lose more inches than pounds, either way works for me! Good luck to everyone who's on the road to healthiness!!!

Need to measure to make it fair. YUCK!
