I'm surprised that I haven't seen any 'cliche' predictions or ideas discussed yet. I'm very excited about this challenge, I'm even keeping a list of ideas so I don't forget some! (And no, I'm not sharing here ;-) It just depends on how much time I'll have as to how many I will try out.

I'll be buying my obligatory prop tonight (I rarely ever use the prop I buy, but I usually buy one, try out the shot, and then discard it!).

I won't say 'the word' but I think that we will see lots of people shadows, pet shadows, tree shadows, pole and tower shadows....

Why do I think this?

Hmmm... maybe I should hold back on that :)

Because tall things in the way of the sun make shadows?

Because rather than use their brains, people will see the first shadow made by a tall thing blocking the sun and think "OooOo, shadows" and take a picture of it?

Not us. We are creative sons of guns and never shoot the obvious.

i have one I would really like to reshoot for this, but I do not have time to make the drive to do it.

I think the shadow makes this shot. Hope it is not too dark for you.

I will not expound on my last comment for fear of being insensitive...

I will say that I enjoy photos where I can see that some amount of effort has gone into achieving the photo. I can walk outside my door right now and produce about 100 shadow photographs and be finished with this challenge... But it's just not what I'm looking for this week...

Actually, I think it's too light!

J/k. Very nice shot, like it a lot, Zeissman.

Must have been a different brand than I got... mine looks like a floodlight.

my prop looks like something off an airplane... ;)

I had posted an entry within 12 hours and I thought it was very good.

Now I have done another completely different one and this one is exceptional as well..these may be my best yet and my wife and daughter refuse to help me choose the entry >:-(

We need a secret pact section for photographers to pre-test their entries ......:-)

Now that multiple challenge idea is sounding good..who was that genius?

I need to think of something cool?_?_?....no I need to find some 'shadows' or better make some. My "on the road" entry is STINK-O!

I agree. I am definitely trying to think of something cool. For the on the road, I was going to order a pizza and have a friend of mine run it over with a car (road pizza play on road kill), but ran out of time Sunday and was reluctant to waste a pizza. Yeah...that's the coolest thing I came up with. Sad, isn't it?

I have a great idea but am having a number of problems implementing it:

1) Time -- I leave for a week in Yellowstone on Thursday after work (be envious *grin*)
2) Cool idea, but needs to be in the right setting to be more than just a cool idea and I don't yet know what that setting might be
3) The ability to actually even carry it out -- just cause you have the vision, doesn't mean you can make it work (without Photoshop) LOL

So, given all this -- I'm willing to sell it to the highest bidder...

Bidding starts at $10... Anyone?

Don''t leave town yet! I''m getting together the $10.00, checking under the couch, and in the car.....humm, I''m up to $5.34. I have some pop cans I can turn in!!
Seriously I''m taxing my poor brain.

I have a ton of ideas, lets just see if I can get them on film.

I would like to do one like this, Hat

But with the face hidden in shadows.

There has to be some interesting architecture out there that the shadows can be a part of. Do not take this so literally, the shadow can be a small but powerful element.

Or maybe one of a sleeping baby with a highlight on her head, but the face in a shadow???? Oh yeah I already tried that one.

I feel another 4 coming on.

And please, no too darks this time?

$10 for a week in Yellowstone while you work on your photo? Sounds like a bargain to me!

I can't believe you are already posting outtakes!!! While I have a list of ideas and working on trying them out, I'm nowhere near ready to decide which ones are my rejects! Argh - the pressure! ;-)

I came up with a great idea. I just have to bribe my "model/prop" to cooperate.

I'm having a bit of trouble because I really wanted to do some sort of natural shadow, but now the weather here is grey and overcast for the whole week so there aren't many around.

Do you think if I took a picture of a blank grey sky and called it "the shadow over the city" that it would get good votes? ;-)

You really want an honest answer? Nope.
