I made a slight programatic enhancement to the way you change your votes on the voting page. I tested it in the major browsers and it worked OK. Please post any problems you notice with this system here. I'll be color coding the changes (vote up = green, vote down = red).

Lang, would it be possible to make the top menu load first on that page instead of last? If you touch anything on that page before it loads completely, the top menu never appears.

I don't get it. Where should I be looking and what should I be looking for? Green and red?

I think what Langdon is referring to is changing your rankings after you voted on an image. There is a "scoring bar" under the thumbnail. You can click on these scores to change your ranking (the scoring bar under the thumbnail doesn't appear until after you've viewed and rated the full-size image, since ranking based on automatically-generated thumbnails is inappropriate). Previously, when you changed your ranking, the page would refresh, and the order of the thumbnails would change. This was disconcerting to a lot of users who liked to adjust their scores as they were going through them a second time, commenting on them, etc. The new implementation allows you to change the score, but even though the page is not automatically refreshed, your new rank is recorded. Now it is up to the user to decide when to "refresh" and see the pictures in their new "ranking buckets".
He says that in the future he will be adding color coding, which means that when you change your vote, the frame around the image will turn from black to red or green, depending on which way you changed your vote.

On the long page of entries, after you vote you can change your score from the thumbnail. What used to happen is that every time you changed a score, it would update the html and refresh the page, which was a pain with long loading times. Now javascript is used and the vote change it instantaneous.

Javascript was used before the change too, except it resulted in a repost/resubmit of the form (which caused the annoying reload). Now, they're relying on the side-effect of src attribute changes in (newly created) image objects. ARSCIF would probably be better for this kind of thing, but I'm glad the form submits are gone. |

Using XP PRo, IE 6.00.28 and I see no colors on the voting thimbnail page ( i have voted for all pics, so i am refining them at this point). the page no longer automatically refreshes, but no color changes either.

| I like the new system very much. I thought something was wrong with my browser, I thought it was not refreshing due to an error. But then I read this post and it is all clear now. Although, I cannot see any change in colour of the frames from red to green or vice versa. |
