and yes I'm Agnostic. I used to be Atheist but I've gotten more "religious" because of this metaphysics class I'm taking -_-

Can we start a big abortion argument on the Christian thread and turn DPC into Facebook?

No.

I am not sure where I stand. I sure don't believe in god as most religions describe. For me, there is universe and unknown. Unknown that we probably will not know for sometime, or forever... as it is I just don't know and I don't want to put a name on it... just yet.

I can't say I am an atheist... since we can't explain (in physical life) what is consciousness, there could be something that might be after death, again I don't want to put name on it, I just don't know.
I am not spiritual, although there might be some entities other than form we are in. Could be anything, but I don't call them ghosts or angels... just entities.

I do believe in other intelligent life forms and even I believe we live with some, here or there or both places. I can't say for certain though if it is true...

I believe universe is like a well oil machine. Everything has a reason. I don't think no one or nothing can harm universe.

If anyone knows what this is called or if any religion describes what I believe, please let me know.

(To those religious people who think I am a lost soul trying to find the way... please, don't. What I said here is what I think as same you are with your own religion, and I respect your religion, you should also respect my thoughts... don't pull this to your way make it look like your thing... because it's not)

I'm Atheist, but I don't feel a specific need to meet other Atheists. There are many other characteristics of humanity to have to resort to religion as a filter for picking friends.

I believe in God, just not in a specific religion.

I fall in the "spiritual but not religious" category. Definitely not Christian.

There are many, many ways to not be Christian but also not be atheist or agnostic. You can also be Christian and agnostic.

So which are you looking for?

I'm confused. The thread is called Calling all Atheists and Agnostics. But you are saying "if you're not Christian, let it be heard." So, is this an atheist/agnostic thread specifically? Or is it an "everyone but Christians thread?" Most non-Christians are neither atheists nor agnostics.

Also, the premise of the thread seems awfully hostile towards Christians. Why do you need to respond to a Christian thread wherein the person starting the thread is merely trying to find more people like him or herself? It's not a challenge to you!

Leo, well said. I am mostly (although not exactly) in the same place.

I hear this point made by lot's of people, but I don't agree with it. I think most things are random chance and have no reason whatsoever beyond the obvious. E.g. He didn't die for a greater reason, he died because he stepped out into traffic without looking and got hit by the bus.

Hey guys I don't mean to crash your party but 2.5 billion strong... We must know something. Now don't trash me I'm just asking? I was an atheist for most of my life and found myself in a very bad position and what happened to me can only be described by divine intervention. I'm not here to save souls it's not my job but take another look?

Atheist here.

Religion is big business and I don't see it going away but sure wish it would. Just think of the productivity gains if all the time devoted to religion was devoted to something useful for society.

I'm not agnostic or atheist. I'm actually just happy not to know. Happy to work it out or make it up as I go. From this point of view I can still appreciate beauty, adventure, spontaneity and all the other good and enjoyable things in life. I simply don't feel the need to believe I have answers to questions that have not been answered yet.

I will follow Socrates' creed and know that I do not know...

I was agnostic about a year ago but the strong and sometimes unpleasantly conservative Christian contingent at my university has turned me Atheist. I wouldn't say I would rule out the idea of there being some kind of higher power, but I am strongly against organised religion as a general rule.

What does your logic imply about the greater number of Muslims? Oh, but, by the way, I'm not an atheist, agnostic or a Muslim. I'm going to remain undeclared here for the moment. I'm just pointing out a problem with your argument.

Oh, good... a thread where we can express our disbelief in the creator. As in, "I can't believe anyone found it necessary to create this thread in response to the other one." :-/
